The 2019 Cadillac XT4 has been ranked as one of the best used subcompact luxury SUVs available for under $30,000 by the car buying experts over at Kelley Blue Book.
KBB recently put together a list highlighting its top choices for consumers in the market for a used subcompact crossover priced at under $30,000. The 2019 Cadillac XT4 was fifth on this list, with KBB editors praising the vehicle’s comfortable and spacious cabin, torque-rich turbocharged 2.0L engine and available all-wheel-drive system.
“The Cadillac XT4 is the entry point to the Cadillac SUV range, coming at the subcompact segment with a larger entry that straddles the border to the next segment up,” KBB says. “The XT4 offers a punchy turbocharged engine, optional AWD, and a comfortable, roomy interior.”
The Cadillac XT4 is one of two GM crossovers to appear on this KBB list. The 2021 Buick Encore GX also appears on the list in fourth, with KBB editors praising the vehicle’s up-to-date infotainment technology and suite of standard active safety tech, among more.
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 represents the first model of the first-generation of the nameplate. In North America, the 2019 XT4 came with a turbocharged 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine making 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission sends powers to the front wheels, with AWD available for a price premium.
The Cadillac XT4 received minor changes and updates for the 2022 model year. This includes the introduction of three new colors, Latte Metallic, Galactic Gray Metallic, and Rosewood Metallic, which replace Shadow Metallic, Garnet Metallic, and Autumn Metallic in the vehicle’s order books. The red caliper option has also been deleted, while the Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile device pairing feature has been removed as well.
Prices for the 2022 Cadillac XT4 start at $35,795 for the base Luxury trim level with FWD.

I didn’t think this was subcompact??? Large compact was my impression, sharing components with the Chevy Blazer.
The XT4 has a platform to itself as the only crossover. The XT4 shares an underfloor with the Malibu and Regal which the latter is no longer for sale.
Blazer is on a totally different platform. This is based on an E2XX/Epsilon platform, shared with the 2021 Envision (and Malibu).
Piss off
We chose a brand new Equinox over a used XT4.
Question: Will the torque-rich 2.0 gasoline engine have a long durable life like the small VW diesels?
I’ve been waiting for an XT4 to show up on Cadillac’s list of available certified used vehicles. I have yet to see one.
