The 2022 GMC Terrain receives four new exterior colors: Marine Metallic, Desert Sand Metallic, Hunter Metallic, and Cayenne Red Tintcoat. Here’s our first look at the new Cayenne Red hue.
Assigned color code GSK and touch-up paint code WA-252F, Cayenne Red Tintcoat is the only red hue and the only tintcoat color option available for the 2022 Terrain.
In total, there are eight available colors for the 2022 GMC Terrain, including:
- White Frost Tricoat
- Quicksilver Metallic
- Summit White
- Ebony Twilight Metallic
- Hunter Metallic
- Marine Metallic
- Cayenne Red Tintcoat
- Desert Sand Metallic
Summit White is the only exterior paint color included in the base price of the 2022 GMC Terrain. The Cayenne Red color is not included in the price of the 2022 GMC Acadia, as it costs an additional $645.
The new Cayenne Red color is available in conjunction with all trim levels of the 2022 Terrain models. Additionally, the new color is available with the Jet Black and Medium Ash Gray with Jet Black interior color combinations, but not the Light Platinum with Dark Galvanized colorway.
2022 GMC Acadia Trim Levels:
- SLE (3SA)
- SLT (4SA)
- AT4 (4SB)
- Denali (5SA)
2022 GMC Acadia Interior Color Combinations:
- Jet Black
- Medium Ash Gray with Jet Black
- Light Platinum with Dark Galvanized
As of this writing, 2022 Terrain in SLE and SLT trim levels have entered production, including models in Marine Metallic. However, the ongoing microchip shortage is negatively impacting inventory levels as the GM San Luis Potosi plant has been idled until the end of August, so we recommend checking with a dealer for complete availability details. Notably, 2022 Terrain AT4 and Denali models have yet to begin production. As GM Authority was first to report in May, the AT4 is set to start production in late August while the Denali is set to begin production in early September.
Prospective buyers may be interested to know that the 2022 GMC Terrain received a refresh, which was originally scheduled for the 2021 model year, but delayed due to complications caused by the Coronavirus. Other changes include new front and rear end fascias, small revisions to the interior and materials, the deletion of the base SL trim level, new wheel options, new a defeat switch for the engine auto stop-start feature, and more.

The 2022 GMC Terrain has some interesting colours but it would be more interesting if it had a 2.0 l engine option to Choose from of be fine with even the 2.0 l LSY engine that even in the Buick Envision or the Cadillac XT4 driven the 1.5 engine iits just seems to lag a bit when accelerating from a stop and I don’t mean turbo lag you do notice the difference between the 2.0 engine and the 1.5 and driven both vehicle and it is noticeable but the 9 spd transmission is flawless in my opinion it makes up for it overall driving a Terrain wasn’t bad at alll . I would like to purchase a new 2022 Terrain denali lease one that is so making a decision about the engine size is really a no brainer!!!
GM screwed up twice on this vehicle. The whole leather wheel delete makes zero sense on the volume selling SLE model. What makes it even more crazy is that a slightly lower priced Equinox LT can be had with the leather wheel with the convenience package. The same basic package doesn’t include it on the more premium GMC. Why?
Even more crazy is the elimination of the 2.0T engine, especially on the pricey Denali trim. GM can lie and sugarcoat it all they want but it is a fact that all Denali Terrains sold from 2018 to 2020 had std 2.0T engines and about half the SLT version had it too. Numbers were a bit lower for the SLE but there are quite a few with the 2.0T up to 2020 also.
I lucked out,got my Terrain Denali in 2020 with the 2 liter, the 1.5 is a stone, what’s really sad is that it stickered for over $44,500.00 and it didn’t have a moonroof or the multiview backup camera either, I like the truck but it’s way overpriced, could have got a fully loaded Kia Sorento for under 40 Grand.
