The 2021 Chevy Silverado MD (Medium Duty) – which consists of Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD models – features various minor changes and updates, such as the addition of new standard StabiliTrak and Neutral-at-Stop options, an open rear axle, along with five new exterior color to its color palette: Mosaic Black Metallic, Northsky Blue Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic, Smokey Quartz Metallic, and Shadow Gray Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Shadow Gray hue.
Availability
Assigned color code GJI and touch-up paint code WA-626D, Shadow Gray Metallic is one of three grayish exterior paint color options available for the 2021 Silverado MD. The other two are Smokey Quartz Metallic and Satin Steel Metallic. The Shadow Gray Metallic hue falls at the darkest end of the color scale compared to the two other grayish options, with Satin Steel Metallic being the lightest and Smokey Quartz Metallic being in the middle. It is worth noting all five new colors are metallic paint options bringing the total number of metallic paint colors to nine for the 2021 model year. Interestingly, no exterior paint options were deleted for the 2021 Silverado MD, bringing the total color palette to 12 exterior hues for the 2021 Silverado Medium Duty line.
The new Shadow Gray Metallic color is included in the base price of the 2021 Silverado Medium Duty. It’s also available in conjunction with all trim levels and interior color combinations. The Medium Duty line only offers two trim levels and two interior color combinations.
2021 Silverado Medium Duty Trim Levels:
- Work Truck (1WT)
- LT (1LT)
2021 Silverado Medium Duty Interior Color Combinations:
- Jet Black
- Dark Ash with Jet Black

As of this writing, Chevrolet dealers are well-stocked with the 2021 Silverado Medium Duty. Models in the Satin Steel Metallic exterior color are not widely available, since most of the landed Silverado Medium Duty inventory appears to be in a white color. We recommend contacting a dealer to check for complete availability details.

Chevrolet just discontinued the Shadow Gray for the Corvette line. In my opinion it was one of the best colors they had. Corvette must have had some left over paint they needed to get rid of.
Now that’s a handsome truck. It looks like a real Chevrolet. Chevrolet should unleash this team of stylists to fix the cartoonish, ungainly Silverado, stat.
