The GMC Hummer EV pickup already made its debut late last year and now General Motors is preparing to pull the veil off of the closely related Hummer EV SUV variant in April.
The GMC Hummer EV SUV will make its official debut during television coverage for the NCAA Final Four on April 3rd at 5 p.m. EST. The automaker will also live stream the electric SUV’s debut on its website for electric vehicle fans that don’t watch college basketball. GMC will begin accepting reservations for the vehicle through this website immediately following the debut event.
While the GMC Hummer EV SUV has yet to make its official debut, GM gave us a glimpse of the vehicle at the 2020 Barclay’s Global Automotive Conference last December. A styling buck for the new SUV appeared on stage at the conference, revealing its boxy silhouette, thick D-pillar and small rear quarter glass, among other styling elements.
GM did not provide any new information about the new Hummer EV SUV at Barclay’s Conference, but the vehicle is expected to be mechanically identical to the pickup. That means it will ride on the automaker’s new BT1 electric vehicle platform and utilize its Ultium lithium-ion battery pack design and Ultium Drive electric motors. The most powerful Hummer EV SUV variant features a tri-motor powertrain producing 1,000 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in three seconds.
We’re expecting other aspects of the GMC Hummer EV pickup to carry over to the SUV, as well, such as the four-wheel-steering system and Crab Mode. Many aspects of the SUV’s cabin design will be similar or identical to the pickup’s, too, although there could be a third row of seats occupying the area where the bed is in the pickup variant.
We’ll have all the details on the new GMC Hummer EV SUV immediately following its debut on April 3rd.

If your looking at the picture at the top of the page and already viewed the Hummer EV pickup interior, then there’s only one thing left to the imagination and that’s what the direct back view looks like. The short rear overhang gives the SUV better proportions and should give it a slight edge off-road. I’m not against Hummer having EVs but I do wish the 6.6 Duramax was an option.
The problem is to put a combustion engine in this vehicle they would have to take many of the feature away from it. Much of this vehicle is only possible because it’s an EV.
Would be cool to see a two door version, or just a smaller model in general that isn’t as wide for a true EV trail monster
This will likely come out eventually, but GMC is actively looking into the potential market for a very similar vehicle as we speak. Two doors may or may not happen, but a smaller model…is definitely a future possibility.
The plan was never to stop the new Hummer line with the SUV and SUT.
GMC can tell us about the Hummer but pretty much kicks the 2022 Sierra to the side :/ when will that be released
Is 24/7 fast charging going to be available at caddy and GMC dealers,if not traveling through rural areas are an issue.
I suppose it will be government to the rescue to put in chargers in areas where a cell signal is hit or miss and internet access is by dial up when you are not waiting weeks to repair crumbling copper lines.
When it catches fire, will liberals blow hot air to put it out?
