Back in October, General Motors revealed the reborn, all-new GMC Hummer EV, debuting the high-tech off-roader during a livestreamed event. The model presented was the pickup truck variant, but critically, there’s a second body style just over the horizon – namely the Hummer EV SUV. We’ve already seen the new Hummer EV SUV as a rendering, but now, General Motors has provided the first real-life glimpse of the upcoming utility vehicle.
During the recent Barclays 2020 Global Automotive Conference held on November 19th, the new GMC Hummer EV SUV was parked on stage behind Executive Vice President Global Product Development, Purchasing & Supply Chain, Doug Parks.
Unfortunately, General Motors did not provide any additional information on the new GMC Hummer EV SUV. Nevertheless, the new utility vehicle’s specs are expected to be identical to those of the recently revealed pickup truck model, albeit with a new SUV body.
As a reminder, the latest GMC Hummer EV pickup is currently offered with either a dual-motor powertrain, or a three-motor powertrain, with the range-topping three-motor Edition 1 producing more than 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, sprinting to 60 mph in about 3 seconds. Other powertrain options include 625 horsepower and 800 horsepower.
The new GMC Hummer pickup is also equipped with a 12.3-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster, as well as a 13.4-inch digital infotainment screen, not to mention a raft of high-tech features for added comfort, convenience, and capability off-road.
Production for both the GMC Hummer EV SUV and the GMC Hummer EV pickup are slated for the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan, formerly known as GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly. The new Hummer EV SUV is expected to officially debut next year, arriving in dealers in 2022. Meanwhile, the pickup model is set to go on sale next year.
