The Chevrolet Spark is getting a jolt of energy thanks to the addition of a new Special Edition model. Announced via social media and shown at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show earlier this month, the new Spark Special Edition is equipped with a range of new aesthetic changes that help the hatch to stand out from its more pedestrian siblings.
The new Chevrolet Spark Special Edition’s upgrades focus solely on enhancing the vehicle’s exterior styling, and include the following content:
- Black Bow Tie emblems
- Black-painted grille
- Black daytime running lamp bezels
- 15-inch black-painted machined-finish alloy wheels
The new Special Edition version is only available on LT (1LT) trim levels for the 2020 Chevrolet Spark. To note, the 1LT trim is offered in two configurations, including the 1LT Manual, and the 1LT Automatic. Both are equipped with the 1.4L LV7 inline four-cylinder engine, which is tuned to produce 98 horsepower and 94 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels exclusively.
The new Chevrolet Spark Special Edition will be available in the spring.
To note, the Chevrolet Spark last received an update for the 2019 model year, at which time it got a restyled front end, new wheel designs, fresh exterior paint and interior color options, two new USB ports, Chevrolet Infotainment 3, and new safety features.
The new Special Edition model will likely infuse the Chevrolet Spark with renewed interest. As one of the last remaining cars offered by GM (that is, a model which isn’t a crossover, SUV, or truck), the Spark maintains an interesting position in the automaker’s lineup. The General recently laid out a number of discounts and price cuts for the model, and sales figures showed a good deal of strength in 2019. What’s more, the Spark has the potential for specialized enthusiast interest, as we’ve seen previously.

How did GM make Spark look good? Photoshopped? Looks Japanese and like a hothatch.
My feeling is that the current Spark is a great little city car that isn’t that bad for an occasional road trip. I really believe Chevy would sell a lot more if dealers had them! Once again, you can’t sell from an empty shelf.
This looks like a cool package.
The Spark has been a surprisingly consistent seller for Chevrolet. This ‘Special Edition’ like a lot of Chevrolet vehicles, is just an appearance package. Looks good though as it is tastefully done.
I am currently looking to purchase a new Spark. They are very hard to find, mostly LS models. Forget the 2LT or the Activ, just not possible.
I can possibly put it off until spring (only 3 weeks away) but, I don’t know if there will be any close by or will I have to travel over 100 miles to find one.
Crazy! I have a satin white with all black trim. This is what i have been customizing mine to look like. In fact, had to go through eBay and order OEM black bow ties as not available to order at GM parts. I have always had larger coupes and sedans. First small hatchback. Moved from SC to AZ. Surprisingly great road trip! Getting about 38 MPG overall. Its not as small as u might believe. That is in the front row. Very satisfied.
I love my 2014 Spark !
I’ve been thinking, how about a making a convertible Spark ? That’d be a HUGE hit !!! 😎
