Updated MyCadillac App Launches In China

New technology often brings modern conveniences, and that’s what the MyCadillac app does in China, which launched last week at Auto Shanghai 2019. The mobile app brings a host of new convenience features and services to Cadillac owners in China, which are becoming increasingly important as luxury brands compete for new customers in an ever more-competitive marketplace.

“Cadillac is taking our service to an entirely new level,” said Andreas Schaaf, vice president of Global Cadillac. “The MyCadillac app offers innovative ways to engage our customers and meet their needs in an efficient and trendy way. In this era, they want high-quality luxury services that save them time and effort – and Cadillac is once again delivering.”

The MyCadillac app comes with 21 “smart services.” Owners will be able to monitor their vehicle’s condition in real-time, including data points like mileage, tire pressure, and oil life. In addition, customers are also able to lock and unlock their doors, as well as see the location of their vehicle on a map. All of this is done by leveraging GM’s OnStar service.

The app can also send reminders when specific vehicle issues need addressing, and a new “service remote unlock feature” allows customers to make concierge service appointments, have the vehicle serviced, as well as track the maintenance process without physically being with the car or at the dealership – thereby delivering a door-to-door concierge service experience.

“Think about it,” said Feng Dan, general director of SAIC-GM Cadillac. “You can park your car at the airport when you take a trip, and have service completed and your car waiting for you by the time you get back.”

The MyCadillac app goes far beyond just a handful of convenience features, too. It delivers a portal for vehicle financing as well as access to the Cadillac Life souvenir shop. In the future, customers will be able to sell and purchase certified used Cadillac vehicles through the app as well.

The push toward offering mobile apps is nothing new in the industry as automakers try to keep customers within the brand’s ecosystem, and the MyCadillac app is just another offering in that space that should please Cadillac owners.

As far as we can tell, the Chinese MyCadillac app being announced here is an upgraded variant of the app currently available to Cadillac owners in North America. However, the American version of the app does not include features such as the door-to-door concierge service or access to vehicle financing, Cadillac Life shop or the ability to purchase Cadillac vehicles. It’s possible that the U.S. will get these features in due time, though no announcement has been made on the matter quite yet.
