The GM Authority Take
As we observed last month: the Volt is marching to the beat of its own drum at a time where consumers are actively buying crossovers over other kinds of vehicles, like sedans. In fact, the compact extended-range EV has now recorded 18 consecutive increases in sales volume growth in the United States.
It will be interesting to see how Chevrolet continues to strengthen its presence in this space going forward, since we can definitely see the Volt selling more than 2,000-some units on a monthly basis.

forget about tesla. the volt is the best green car out there.
I did my part! Bought mine in mid-March (the 16th).
Have only used 0.2 gallons of gas, and driven close to (or over) 850 miles.
Buick of China sells roughly 4.5X as many cars as their American counterpart which means if they have equal success with the Volt which will be sold as the Buick Velite 5 then sales may reach as many as 9,500 vehicles a month.
Would be interesting if Chevy used the parts for the Volt to build a CUV or even a full size sedan with the same system with battery powered electric motor and gas powered engine to recharge the battery in something like the Equinox or the Impala.
Chevy should use the parts for the Volt to build a CUV or even a full size sedan with the same system with battery powered electric motor and gas powered engine to recharge the battery in something like the Equinox or the Impala.
Chevy’s real people commercial should show the Toyota Prius and the Chevy Volt sitting side by side then have the people press the start button of the Prius then the Volt; the difference being that despite both vehicles labeled as Hybrids, the Prius burns gas as soon as you start the car up while the Volt is in battery mode until the battery has been drained which may be as long as almost 60 mils before the gas motor kicks in.
