Opel Astra Earns Two Trophies From Independent Motoring’s Best Of The Best Awards

During Independent Motoring’s seventh annual Best of the Best awards held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Opel Astra was named Best Family Car and the Overall Best of the Best, with the compact hatchback being praised for offering exceptional value as well as improved style and performance,

The awards add to the Astra’s already-long list of accomplishments, including the Golden Steering Wheel Award, AutoBest recognition for its IntelliLux LED Matrix headlamps, European COTY and more.

Opel has upped its game with a car that’s lighter yet roomier, more interesting to look at, classier inside, and packed with new-age gadgets,” said Independent Media’s Motoring Editor Denis Droppa. “In standing out against a market of over achievers, the new Astra has done it by ditching some mass in its midriff and gaining some in its cranium.”

The Opel Astra rides on GM’s new D2 platform with the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, and 2016 Buick Envision, among other vehicles.

Ford is just as guilty and all are in terms of running the KEROCars……
