Cadillac Lyriq Wins Vincentric 2025 Best CPO Value Award

The Cadillac Lyriq took top marks in the Luxury Mid-Size SUV category of the 2025 Best CPO Value Awards, published yearly by the automotive research and data analysis company Vincentric.

Vincentric gave the Cadillac Lyriq the win for the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) award because it outperformed 36 other models competing against it in the luxury mid-size SUV segment when it comes to value, the firm said in its press release.

Several factors contributed to the Cadillac Lyriq crossover’s victory in this year’s awards. Foremost among these is that research revealed the Lyriq’s cost of ownership to be 16.1 percent below the expected costs for a vehicle of its type. This echoes a previous study which showed the Cadillac Lyriq five-year cost of ownership to be only $909 more than the cost of a new Cadillac XT5.

The Cadillac Lyriq also offered the lowest total ownership cost among mid-size luxury SUVs. This is related to its lowest-in-class fuel cost and its lowest-in-class maintenance cost, according to Vincentric. Only around half of EVs, according to earlier Vincentric research, are cheaper to own than ICE equivalents, making the Lyriq stand out among its peers even more decisively.

The study evaluated the Cadillac Lyriq and its competitors based on eight different cost factors, using fifty-state insurance information and other pertinent data. The costs measured include depreciation of the vehicle, taxes, financing rates, fuel costs, the price of maintaining the vehicle, repairs, insurance costs, and “opportunity cost.” The ownership cost was projected based on a theoretical driving distance of 15,000 miles over the next half-decade.

Meanwhile, several major updates and changes are being rolled out with the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq. These include boosted ranges, slashing the number of components used in assembly by 24 percent, and retirement of the base-level Tech trim. Prices for the all-electric crossover start at $59,990 for the Luxury 1 trim and range up to a starting MSRP of $68,890 for the Sport 3 trim. The model’s official configurator is currently live.

As a reminder, the Cadillac Lyriq is underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform under the body panels. Production of the crossover EV takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

  1. 15,000 miles over 5 years? That sounds way less than what we would expect the typical US driver travels. That’s only 3,000 miles a year.

  2. Wait. One component of the award is depreciation, with no mention of the weighting of each factor.

Presumably, it scores high because depreciation is a large component of the overall score and it decreases the cost of a used vehicle versus a new one, making it a great car to buy used.

This is NOT good news for a person considering purchasing a new Lyriq.

GM trumpeting winning this award is really a disingenuous attempt to turn lemons into lemonade.

Mary accepted EV subsides from the government and money to promote this nonsense. Give us great gas cars, that is what we want.
