The Hagerty “Hot List” for 2015 just came out, listing ten of the best future classics that American drivers can get in their garages for under $100,000 today. The list includes quite a few American automobiles, including the 2015 Chevy Camaro Z/28 and 2015 Corvette Z06.
AutoWeek shared the list, reporting the Camaro Z/28 and Corvette Z06 as numbers 3 and 4 on the list, respectively. The Z/28, as they note, is the ultimate road-course-ready Camaro that can be had new from the dealer. It packs a whopping 505 HP LS7 V8 (7.0-liter) under the hood, sheds 300 pounds compared to its SS counterpart, and is laden with clever aerodynamics and Formula One-style spool-valve dampers to devour any uphill off-camber corner. “Chevrolet let the engineers out to play” with this one, as AutoWeek puts it.
What the Z/28 is to the Camaro, the Z06 is to the Corvette – and then some. The supercharger feeding its new 6.2-liter LT motor boosts power output up to 650, with an equal lb-ft count. Plenty of functional carbon fiber can be found throughout, including the driveshaft, which cuts down on power-robbing rotational inertia – and exemplifies Chevrolet’s devotion to performance. The Corvette Z06 is a veritable supercar-killer, at a fraction of the price.
