General Motors Company reported 16,791 new vehicle deliveries for January 2018 in the Canadian market, a 15 percent increase compared to January 2017. Sales increased at Chevrolet, Buick and GMC, while decreasing at Cadillac.
“GM was number one in Canada for 2017 full-year automotive retail sales driven by a strong product portfolio in key Canadian market segments,” said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing. “We see this trend continuing, as we continue to offer our customers the most dynamic portfolio of cars, trucks and SUVs that appeal to a wide range of Canadians. 2018 will see that portfolio even further enhanced with new offerings”, Roth added.

General Motors sales overview:
- Total sales increased 15 percent or 2,185 units to 16,791 units:
- Chevrolet sales increased 25.9 percent to 10,220 units
- Cadillac sales decreased 12.5 percent to 575 units
- Buick sales increased 6.2 percent to 1,000 units
- GMC sales increased 2.2 percent to 4,996 units
- Retail sales increased 12.4 percent or 1,346 units to 12,185 vehicles, representing 72.6 percent of total January 2018 sales compared to 74.2 percent in January 2017:
- Chevrolet retail sales increased 19.9 percent to 6,949 units
- Cadillac retail sales decreased 15.3 percent to 509 units
- Buick retail sales increased 6.1 percent to 991 units
- GMC retail sales increased 6.5 percent to 3,736 units
- Fleet sales increased 22.3 percent or 840 units to 4,606 vehicles, representing 27.4 percent of total January 2018 sales compared to 25.8 percent in January 2017

- Chevrolet Express sales increased 77.46 percent to 378 units
- Chevrolet Impala sales increased 4.84 percent to 130 units
- Chevrolet Malibu sales decreased 22.09 percent to 321 units

- Cadillac ATS sales decreased 24.24 percent to 75 units
- Cadillac CT6 sales decreased 19.05 percent to 17 units
- Cadillac CTS sales decreased 9.68 percent to 28 units
- Cadillac Escalade sales increased 17.5 percent to 94 units while Cadillac Escalade ESV sales decreased 32 percent to 51 units; retail sales increased 8.5 percent for the entire Escalade family
- Cadillac XT5 sales decreased 7.28 percent to 293 units
- Cadillac XTS sales decreased 45.16 percent to 17 units
Buick sales increased 6.2 percent to 1,000 units, marking the brand’s best January sales performance since 2002:
- Buick Enclave sales increased 194.94 percent to 233 units; retail sales increased 197.4 percent
- Buick Encore sales increased 68.04 percent to 573 units; retail sales increased 67.9 percent
- Buick Envision sales decreased 18.95 percent to 124 units
- Buick LaCrosse sales increased 10 percent to 44 units
- Buick Regal sales decreased 0 percent to 25 units
- Buick Verano sales decreased 99.67 percent to 1 units
GMC sales increased 2.2 percent to 4,996 units:
- GMC Acadia sales increased 2.99 percent to 344 units
- GMC Canyon sales increased 28.81 percent to 313 units; retail sales increased 30.9 percent
- GMC Savana sales increased 19.85 percent to 314 units
- GMC Sierra sales decreased 8.87 percent to 2,774 units
- GMC Terrain sales decreased 4.9 percent to 776 units; retail sales increased 19.8 percent
- GMC Yukon sales increased 125.69 percent to 246 units
- GMC Yukon XL sales increased 186.25 percent to 229 units
