The SAIC-GM-Wuling partnership has borne a new vehicle. Coming in under the Baojun brand, the 310 subcompact hatchback arrives to further fill out the brand’s portfolio of vehicles.
Baojun has done quite well as of recent, with the 310 hatchback arriving hot on the heels of a record 45,002 sales in March – an 82-percent increase year-over-year. The 310 hatch is built on an independent platform from any other SAIC-GM-Wuling vehicle, but utilizes a familiar 1.2L P-TEC engine matched with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Baojun 310 is no race car, though. The 1.2L produces only 81 hp and 86 lb-ft of torque. However, the engine sips only a quarter of a gallon of gas per every 3.3-miles.
Styling wise, the 310 hatchback takes the traditional double-U shaped front end of the the brand and carries it into the future. Materials inside are also described as “youthful” and “harmonious.” An eight-inch touchscreen, electric power steering, four airbags and more provide a dash of premium to a rather budget car.
The Baojun 310 will arrive shortly following its debut at Auto China 2016.

Handsome! A low cost brand in the US could compete well with the used market.
“Just the body and the badges. That’s it.” Or in this case, just change the front end and the badges. That’s just a spiffed-up old model Spark.
Since both Cadillac ( GM ) and Baojun are a collective in China selling and building Cadillacs for that market , how long will it be before we see that companies vehicles in North America ?
Buick is building there as well as Cadillac , all PHEV’s are built in China and shipped here for our consumers , There had to have been a deal struck that China would be allowed to also ship their vehicles to the U.S. .
And withe the current administration in Washington pushing TAPP down our throats it’s just a matter of time .
In the late 1970’s we started to see the onslaught of Japanese cars coming here , that will pale in comparison to the loaded ships coming to the docks of America full of Chinese vehicles , The Buick Envision , albeit with an American nameplate will always be known as the car that started it all .
A quarter of a gallon of gas every 3.3 miles? So it only gets 13.2 mpg? This can’t be correct.
