General Motors’ SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture in China has just officially revealed the upcoming Baojun Yunhai in the Asian country.
The automaker revealed the first official images of the upcoming Baojun Yunhai, an all-new compact-sized crossover with electrified powertrains that will mark Baojun’s return to the mainstream passenger car market in China. As such, the all-new Yunhai will expand the relaunch of the company’s younger brand in the Chinese market with a portfolio focused exclusively on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs).
Developed from the ground up on the D platform of SGMW’s new Tianyu EV modular architecture, the upcoming Baojun Yunhai will offer two variants with different powertrains, including an all-electric variant and another equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The first official announcement focuses on the Yunhai EV, which Baojun describes as the only crossover in its class to offer a range of 600 km or 373 miles and a semi-autonomous driving system.
Aesthetically, the upcoming Baojun Yunhai debuts a next-generation design language that gives it a modern-looking body with organic shapes and smooth lines of high aerodynamic efficiency. In this sense, it presents a stylized front that includes sharp headlights with a new three-horizontal-line lighting signature. The Yunhai measures 178.8 inches long, 74.0 inches wide and 63.3 inches tall, riding on wheelbase of 108.7 inches.
In particular, the Baojun Yunhai EV is distinguished by its minimalist appearance and specific details such as its own front end. The model includes a sculpted bumper with aerodynamic vertical moldings under the headlights that give them visual continuity, as well as a lower molding that simulates an air intake finished with a diamond pattern – which replicates the shape of the brand’s logo. It also has exclusive low-wind-resistance wheels.
The upcoming Baojun Yunhai has just debuted in China and will be officially launched during the third quarter of the year in that country’s domestic market. All details about its powertrains, interior design and technological equipment will be revealed progressively as the sales start date approaches. The Yunhai represents an important addition to the highest-selling segment of the Chinese market.

Can you say “generic”?
Can you say China Market?
At this point, I might look into getting a bmw instead of a Cadillac. Gm doesn’t know their customers at all and this whole give China everything and F the us isn’t helping. I’m sure bmw or Lexus cater to their us market more than domestic brands.
How can Baojun get a combination EV and PHEV faster than Chevrolet and Buick? P.S. Subaru called and wants their wheels back.
China now has the technology they needed from the West. “Joint ventures” are no longer needed. They will build their own brands & swamp many markets worldwide. Lower case gm’s number one profitable market in China’s days are numbered.
Looks like another BUICK from China gm.
