At a London ceremony yesterday, What Van? presented Vauxhall with two honors for its Vivaro van: the 2015 Best Medium Van, and the Innovation Award for its blind-spot mirror.
“The new UK-built Vauxhall Vivaro is a huge step forward from its predecessor, and provides an unprecedented level of user-friendly interior functionality for operators that need their vehicle to double-up as a mobile workspace,” said What Van? Editor Paul Barker. “Class-leading refinement and excellent new engines add to the innovative ideas to offer an efficient and cost-effective all-rounder.”
For the Best Medium Van honors, the Vivaro was praised for its series of diesel engines (most notably the 1.6L BiTurbo), class-leading build quality, practicality with improved cargo dimensions and excellent payload capability, and a comfortable cabin that also functions as a mobile office with the latest in infotainment technology. Since van drivers spend hours behind the wheel, having car-like comfort makes for a very practical workhorse.
For the Innovation Award, Vivaro’s dual-lens rear-view mirrors received special praise for improving blind-spot vision. The mirrors feature a separate lower section that provides extra vision for overtaking, as well as the larger aspherical outer section that offers better long-range visibility.
“We’re delighted to receive these awards from What Van?,” said Vauxhall’s National Commercial Vehicle and B2B Sales Manager Richard Collier. “The all-new Brit-built Vivaro has proved to be a very popular choice for our customers and has been our most successful commercial vehicle launch ever.”
