For years, Chevy truck enthusiasts have been asking the Bow Tie brand for a luxurious trim level of the ever-popular Silverado… something that’s more unique and luxurious than the top-of-the-line LTZ trim level. And for about a year now, we’ve been hearing about an upcoming trim level for the new K2XX-based 2014 Silverado called “High Country”. In fact, we’ve even seen spy shots of the truck. Today, the waiting and guessing games are over, as Chevrolet has officially announced the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country.
The top-of-the-line trim level broadens Chevrolet’s portfolio in the premium pickup segment, and will join the LTZ and Z71 models in the Silverado lineup this fall. The High Country is distinguished by several unique features inside and out.
Silverado High Country Exterior
The exterior of the Silverado High Country features a unique chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, halogen projector headlamps and body-color front and rear bumpers. P275/55R20 all-season tires wrap unique 20-inch chrome wheels, which are complemented by chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors.
Silverado High Country Interior
The interior of the Silverado High Country contains a higher level of premium features and materials with a rich, Western themed appearance. An exclusive saddle brown interior and authentic materials can be found throughout the cabin.
Amenities include heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment with an 8-inch color touch screen, Bose premium audio, as well as park assist (front and rear).
Silverado High Country Powertrain
The standard engine in the Silverado High Country is GM’s all-new 5.3L EcoTec3 V8. The eight-banger is SAE-certified at 355 horsepower (250 kW) and delivers class-leading V8 fuel economy of up to 23 mpg highway (in 2WD models). Those who want more power will be able to opt for the all-new 6.2L EcoTec3 V8.
Part of the new EcoTec3 engine family, both engines feature power-enhancing and fuel-saving features such as direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management — which allows both powerplants to seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel during light-load driving.
Silverado High Country Options
Given that the Silverado High Country offers a high level of standard equipment, only a few options will be available on the flagship Chevy truck. These include:
- 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine
- Chrome rear bumper with CornerStep
- Integrated trailer brake controller
- Sunroof
- Navigation
- Rear-seat entertainment system
The optional High Country Premium Package offers a heated steering wheel, driver alert package, adjustable pedals, and integrated trailer brake controller.
The GM Authority Take
The High Country seems to be a direct competitor to the F-150 King Ranch, while the upcoming 2014 Sierra Denali will take on The Blue Oval’s (more blinged-out) Platinum/Limited editions.

Is the “High Country” badging on the sides really necessary?
It looks good, I really like the brown interior. Im not a huge fan of so much chrome, especially rims. And also not a fan of running boards.
Why no HID? On a top level, luxury intended, truck they should be standard. Little things.
Nice truck! I’m very impressed! Can’t wait to see in person though
I really like the way this looks, but how come Chevy doesn’t offer a 2-tone exterior color scheme any more? I think this would look drop-dead gorgeous if the bottom half and bumpers were a mocha brown or white-gold sort of color. Also I think the leather is a little too red and not quite dark enough, but other than that, if I had the money, I’d get one.
i think they could of put wood trim on the center stack and the side
Very desirable
I think 2 tone should be a must, weird how navigation is an option for this model. Like the looks better then any other trim. So 2014 silverado/Sierra will really have off center steering wheel??
In car nav is becoming passe. Most everyone now has a smartphone with built in nav.
Exactly. When CUE debuted, I thought it was pretty cool and a great feature. But Google Maps on my S3 will blow that nav out of the water, and it’s free.
Being able to sync the 30gb of music on my phone, plus Slacker Radio and 8tracks, with the car basically renders the media features on in-car infotainment systems useless.
Just wondering , is this the Raptor fighter ?
No, not at all
Not even close. The article stated it’s meant to compete with the King Ranch. It does a great job of that. I really wish somebody would make something to realistically compete with the Raptor but so far it hasn’t happened.
Is brown the only interior option and why no HIDs?
No matter how you dress it up it’s still got the ugly chevy grille.
I was hoping push start, HID or Led headlights and led all around would be standard for this trim, but sadly it’s not even available.
Summer is almost over. When are 2500hd going to be available in high country?
