Overview

The GM BEV3 platform is a global architecture that’s also highly flexible. GM says that it is capable of supporting a wide variety of vehicles, particularly cars, crossovers, and commercial vehicles with “outstanding design, performance, packaging range and affordability” factors.

The BEV3 architecture features a “skateboard-type” design with the batteries being placed between the wheels (within the wheelbase). It’s capable of supporting unibody models, such as cars and crossovers (crossover utility vehicles/CUVs). By comparison, traditional body-on-frame vehicles like pickup trucks and SUVs will be supported by the GM BT1 platform.

A more premium variant of the BEV3 platform, called BEV Prime, is currently being developed to underpin luxurious and sporty vehicles such as the upcoming Chevy Corvette Electric Sedan, Corvette Electric SUV, as well as two forthcoming Cadillac electric sedans.
