  1. Well, it seems for now that the 1.5L turbo or 1.3L turbo will not be offered, but then again those engines would have come with CVT transmission. Still not seeing MPG estimates yet.

    1. On the anemic 1.2 I3:
The Seeker promotes sporty excitement(with looks and powertrain), and I was all for that. This is not that. This is a disappointment for me and the rest of the smaller car enthusiasts. This is just another dangerous car to be driving on a 2 lane hwy when in passing mode or trying to avoid an accident. Plus, the next level Trailblazer is almost $10k more, -which is in a different price category. This new ‘Trax’ is going to need to be down around 2,500lbs, for any adequate performance, and I highly doubt that. Gm screwed up again! Who’s making these boneheaded decisions??

      1. Robert: Seriously? I mean really? Performance? We don’t need more idiots out on the roads driving SUV/CUV’s like maniacs. Frankly, I’m tired of hearing all the whining about power and performance and speed. And unless you have driven either of these engines (1.2 or 1.3), then how would you know? From what I’m reading and hearing, those engines have been quite good so far and the HP/Torque numbers are adequate and competitive for sure.

If you want power and performance, then buy a V8 powered car or truck or SUV. This Trax will do exactly what it needs to do and the sales will prove it.

        1. I agree !
I test drove a RS model yesterday in the outstanding yellowish color, the car was really peppy.
I think it is an absolute bargain for the price.
Also the fit and finish both inside and out is excellent.

      2. I understand your frustrations, I too was expecting the 181hp 1.5L turbo 4 from the Seeker would also come with the Trax. However I mistakenly thought GM would position this newer crossover above the Trailblazer, but what they have done for NA markets is the opposite. GM is trying as best as they can to keep the cost of the new Trax low as the entry level Chevrolet crossover topping out at $25000, which in my opinion is a very good thing. So for the time being no 1.5L turbo 4 or 1.3L turbo 3.

      3. Enough with performance, it’s an economy car! If you want performance there are plenty other vehicles available for that. Everyone isn’t interested in pretending they’re Fast and Furious. Some of us just need and want an affordable commuter car that has some practicality, isn’t ugly and has a few nice amenities that isn’t going going to break the bank. I admit I’m a slight bit leery of a 3 cylinder just for longevity reasons not performance. I would pay for an optional 1.5 4 cylinder upgrade if GM makes that available just for my own piece of mind.

        1. What’s wrong with a gal wanting some hp in a crossover? It’s kinda cool that she does. I would too. Owned an E550bi turbo, 402 hp. Nothing wrong with having hp when you need to get out of traffic – on my terms.

      4. I don’t know when you last drove a Seeker. I’ve never driven one but I do have a 2025 Trax. It’s quite the zippy little car and does great on a 2-lane highway at it’s current weight with or without a carload of passengers and luggage.

  2. After reading the article on here the other day about this, I went to the Chevy site and looked it over. Chevy has a true winner here and I, for one, think having the 6 speed auto is a good step. That alone would cause me to consider it over the Trailblazer for sure. Since they both look so similar, why not? In fact, I think this one actually looks slightly better than the TB. But nowhere could I find on Chevy’s site about them offering anything but the plain black plastic cladding. Since the price is going to be quite close to the Buick Encore GX (comp equipped), I would probably just go with that car since you can get the painted cladding with the ST package. Much preferred. But then you lose the 6 speed.

So although I like this one and feel it will be a huge winner for them, I’ll stick to my sedan’s as long as I can.

      1. Thanks Iggy. I actually knew that already, but I personally hate the 9 speed. Had 2 different loaner cars (2021’s) with the 2.0L and 9 speed. Hated every second of driving them. On top of that, you only get the 9 speed if you go AWD. Like about 90% of the people out there, I need AWD like another hole in my head! Last thing I’ll ever do is pay more for something I don’t want or need and then get slightly worse MPG on top. No thanks.

    2. the engine in the Tb is slightly underpowered. And if I am correct here, the new Trax is larger than the TB – 178/106/61 vs TB 174/104/65

  3. So will we see a GMC Granite version of this. Now that is the question? Hopefully so… However this does look nice…

    1. 1.2L, 1.3L, 1.5L….yada, yada, yada. Thanks, but I’ll stick with my 2013 Terrain and it’s 3.7L N/A 301hp LFX motor for now. It has served me very well. But please do let me know when GM finally brings back the Pontiac name plate, then you’ll have my attention…
      Ahhh, memories!

    2. It’s an economy car! People have AWD on the brain. I’m from the Buffalo NY area and FWD with good tires has always done fine in snowy driving. People just love to make cars more expensive and go deeper and deeper into debt.

  5. What about weight? how much does the trax weigh?

  6. tim, get the TrailBlazer

  7. Just consider that this vehicle is somehow replacing an entry vehicle, which means something between a Spark / Sonic and a TrailBlazer, cost wise and therefore spec wise.
We cannot expect to have all of a sudden in each vehicle that is a SUV or a CUV all the goodies like AWD. I believe that even if it is not stated in any way, still we see a “car for every purse and purpose”…
Think about this: what student would not want a Trax in their early years in college? AWD? who cares?

  8. Yeah well living in an area where all wheel drive prevents you from having to put chains on every time it snows I need all wheel drive

    1. As everyone has established, go buy a Trailblazer then.

  9. GM wants entry level SUV to compete with the toyota cross and others. Was considering the subaru crossteck sport, but thats another $7k. But has more power. The new trax a bit underpowered, but I’d take that with a 6-speed, over a CVT. Most new vehicles have 7,8,9 speed auto trans with delayed shifts, hard shifts, just to many gears. GM has had this trans for years, used in the old trax, cruze. Wish manufactures stay with 6 speeds, less trouble. All I read in todays vehicles is customer satisfaction issues with these stupid speed trans. I have two kia’s, both with 6-speeds, never had an issue, 2011’s with high milage. Will try out this 2024 trax, but like my old 2011 kia sportage with 90k miles, runs like new, never a repair. See how things go. Hope the new trax can tow. Need that.

  10. I am looking at a 2024 Trax-( Package RS Option 2-2RS) with a 1.2 L Turbo engine. Will the turbo work more because of having a 1.2 vs a 1.4 that I have with my 2017 Trax? If so, will my gas mileage decrease? Will it get me over the Arizona mountains without struggling? Thank you.

  12. I’m a V8 Guy, Owner of 2 performance Vehicles Corvette and Suburban. I’ve always leased a 3rd vehicle. The last was a XT4, a Rocket or a car with all the possible options.
Well my lease is up, and started shopping for a new lease vehicle. My last lease was $425, The new lease on the same vehicle is $700. Well, My wife and I started thinking about buying this Trax. I was Super skeptical of this 137 HP engine. Well with a $27000.00 0ut the door price, we’ll give it a try. (Compared to the XT4 we last leased).
This is my take. The engine is surprisingly great, Sure I’d love to 2.0 turbo. This 1.2 is better than adequate. You don’t have to press hard to get it going, it’s surprisingly good. Interior is quieter than the XT4. The ride is surprisingly excellent. Overall, I’m surprisingly impressed with this vehicle. The only items I miss is a power seat for the driver on the RS. A powered lift gate would also be a nice option. Also park assist would be nice. All in all, if you’re looking for a 0 to 60 in about 6 seconds. This is not your vehicle, but if you’re looking for a nice car that does everything you normally want, this vehicle will meet or exceed your expectations…

  13. I got the super basic 2024 Trax (Daytona Beach) … a no frills/thrills model and I am happy with it. Just drive it back and forth to work (6 miles round trip) so for me, I’m a happy camper. and it has plenty of room for my fishing and camping gear. Sure, there is no gitty up but I drive the back road…. slow. She’s a looker and I do get that “What kind of car is that” look but to me, it’s all about cost, functionality, and dependability. The only concern I have is the engine noise. I’ve looked all over if there are others with the same car/engine that have an engine nock. At idle, she purrs, but when accelerated, there’s this strange engine knocking noise. I checked to see if the valve’s where chain driven. They are, but it sounds like push rods to me tapping the valves. It only has 290 miles on it and I’m a gentle driver. What say anyone here.
