Hit The Track For Under $12K In This Race-Prepped Pontiac Fiero: eBay Find

How many race-ready cars are there that come with a locking enclosed trailer and everything else you need to take to the track for under $12,000? Probably not a lot. We have a small affinity for the Pontiac Fiero when it hasn’t been converted into an affordable weekend racer, so you can imagine how much we like this car that recently went up for sale on eBay.

The Fiero comes with a carbureted Buick V6, a manual transmission, four brand new Hoosier slicks, a roll cage and a new racing seat and seatbelts. The car was also recently inspected by a professional race engine builder, according to the listing. It has been covered in a matte-black vinyl wrap, which were not really a fan of, but is painted white and light blue underneath.

If you need a race suit, helmet, harness and a Hans Device, all necessities for doing any sort of SCCA or other sanctioned racing, those are included in the sale as well. Check out the listing here for additional information and photos.

  1. Sorry but I would pass on this one for that price.

Not much value here for what they are offering.

  2. Well for MR down vote for about $10K more you could have gotten a real Huffaker IMSA GTU car that was in the GM collection with a fully operating SD4 engine in full GM Goodwrench colors.

There Is a another Huffaker car out there now with a V8 and fully restored with a full tube chassis and Hewland gear box for sale for a similar price.

Like I said there is little value in this car for that kind of money. Hell GM sold some of their prototype cars for a similar price to this thing. The 2+2 went for around $15K and the 88 Convertible went for around $17K.

I also know one of the original GTP Type II prototypes just sold for around $8K.

What we have here is just an old car that someone put more in it than it is worth trying to recoupe the cost.

We built a 944 Track car full cage and fuel system and suspension modifications for much less than $12K.

More power to them if they can get it but the value is just not there.

  3. I’d take my stock yellow 88 4 cyl anyday… even if its an automatic. This one looks like junk to me.
