Steller Motorsport To Field Corvette Z06 GT3.R Race Cars In British GT Series

General Motors debuted its new Corvette Racing program at the start of the 2024 racing season, abandoning its longtime factory-backed motorsports program in favor of a new customer racing model. The Corvette Z06 GT3.R is now headed back to the British GT series in 2025, as the Silverstone-based racing outfit recently confirmed that it has purchased two race cars for competition.

According to a report from BritishGT.com, Stellar will turn its back on its longtime partnership with Audi next season, picking up the reins of two Corvette Z06 GT3.R race cars instead. Both Vettes will be supplied by Pratt Miller Motorsports, replacing Steller’s Audi R8 race cars and bringing The Bow Tie back to the British GT after a decade-long hiatus.

Steller hasn’t confirmed its driver lineup for the new Corvette racers, but it’s worth noting that Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding shared the team’s Audi R8 in 2024.

Steller “will reveal its full 2025 racing programme in the near future, but is currently eyeing potential efforts in ELMS, Le Mans Cup, GT World Challenge and British GT with a yet-to-be-confirmed group of drivers,” according to a statement from the team.

“We looked long and hard at the available options in GT3 before opting to join the Corvette family,” said team principal Gary Blackham. “The Z06 GT3.R is a stunning car, beautifully engineered and designed from the off as a true endurance racer. The team, and our customers that have seen the car already, are truly excited by the prospect of racing with one of the most successful brands in sportscar racing.”

He added, “A Corvette hasn’t raced in British GT for more than 10 years. But the Z06 has already achieved much success in America and I truly believe it can shake up the established order in the UK. It’s a championship we are keen to be part of subject to the right driver combination.”

The last time a Corvette raced in the British GT was back in 2004, which saw several Corvette C5-based race cars on track in different divisions.
