2019 Cadillac XT4 Premium Luxury: Live Mega Photo Gallery

Currently soaking up attention at Cadillac’s exhibit at the 2018 New York Auto Show is the 2019 Cadillac XT4 – Cadillac’s first-ever compact crossover utility vehicle (CUV). One of the more notable items about the new Cadillac XT4 is that it introduces Cadillac’s new “Y” trim level structure that starts off with the base Luxury trim, and then splits off into the “higher” Premium Luxury or Sport, both of which offer distinct personas in terms of styling cues and features/equipment (we will outline these in a later post).

We spent quite a bit of time with both models, and snapped nearly 40 photos of the XT4 Premium Luxury model, which you can peruse at your leisure just below.

  1. Honestly the interior in a CX-5 GT is nicer, but then again it’s nicer than a lot of premium offerings.

    1. What’s your criteria here?

      1. Since I haven’t sat in the Caddy, aesthetics. The CX-5 [GT] has a very handsome interior with nice materials and feature laden

      2. Apparently his interior aesthetic preferences are tied to the mid-2000s “Garmin GPS Taking Up The Entire Window” look that Mazda loves. I, personally, don’t want a last-minute iPad taped to my dash.

    2. Just Googled CX5 GT interior and I agree. The Mazda has a cleaner, more cohesive design, that has the understated elegance and premium looking materials missing in the XT4.

At first I thought XT4 had attractive shapes even if the materials were a bit on the cheap side but after looking at more photos and especially compared to the Mazda, the Cadillac design is just over-the-top and too incoherent for a luxury brand.

      1. If anything, the CX5’s interior is very reminiscent of Audi’s clean, minimalist interiors. I absolutely adore the interior of the current generation Audi TT — a real driver’s car with no gizmos on the dash to distract!

  2. I prefer the bright work on the Premium Luxury trim over the Sport trim which the trim pieces are high gloss black and body colored. Can’t go wrong with Sport trim though.

By looking at the pics, fit and finish is excellent and everything on the interior lines up perfectly. This gives an aura of high quality and dependable product. Although, not over the top, I do like the interior design and color combination of this model. I’m liking the XT4 more and more.

If I’m in the market for the CUV and can’t afford the Premium Luxury, I be happy with Luxury trim because this vehicle is the base trim with LED headlights standard with an optional sunroof. I’m glad Cadillac is getting rid of base models in the future.

  3. The car in general lines is very good, the interior has good quality materials but there is something that I do not like completely.

The buttons that are on the door panels under the handle that opens them; I think they could be metallic Aluminum and the same buttons where the Head Up Display is also in Aluminum.

It is not very expensive to assemble and it increases the image of elegance and luxury, people today look at those details a lot

  4. As I had say, that is not my type of car.So I showed it my mother, who wants to replace her Buick Regal, and she loved it. This thing will sell like hot cakes, I’m sure. But I still think Audi makes better-proportionals FWD CUVs. It looks so much bulky.

    1. I agree. Audi and Volvo do much better proportions with FWD architectures. I don’t know why Cadillac can’t do the same.

  5. Alex Luft, any idea why none of the trims are equiped with the 360º HD camera or the side marker signals on the mirror?

  7. I’m afraid the upcoming Q3*s interior will ounclass this one.

    1. I am really disappointed in the part of the centre console facing the rear seats. It looks much cheaper than the one in the Equinox, and more like something from an older model Kia. (Newer Kia’s all look better than this) Believe me, I am trying to like this vehicle, but it is not easy when I see details like this. I also have to agree that there needs to be some sort of hybrid model.

  8. Let’s just let the real performance of sales here be the Judge.

The price is much cheaper than most others and it will be a big factor in sales. The whole idea here is to get new buyers into a Cadillsc and get the, to move up to more expensive models as their income improves with age.

Also I see older folks down sizing going to this model as they did for the Buick Encore.

The Cadillac situation is like a puzzle and this is only the first small piece.

The other parts will fill in soon and bring clarity to the big picture.

  9. Is there any reason why this or the CT6 were not shown or any pics taken of either vehicle on to show the nav and gauges and info centers? I know we will eventually see them both but I find it odd that these all new vehicles had no lit up dashs.

    1. Unfortunately, most auto shows don’t hand you the keys, which are necessary to start the car and really see the gauges.

  10. I was hoping the plastic cladding was only on the lower trims, but it looks like that isn’t the case. Maybe we’ll at least get an option or a package for body colored trim? Plastic makes it look cheap!

  11. I wish automakers would keep the usb port and phone cubby away from the dang cupholders.

  12. Has anyone else noticed that there is no ” Cadillac ” script anywhere to be found ? Think the last time I have seen it on one of their cars was on the chrome trim piece in the rear hatch of SRX , it was pressed into the piece .
Their cars are starting to showcase 2 different Cadillac crests but no divisional nameplate . Buick is also starting this .

The interior of XT4 looks like they spent a lot of time with the design and placement of the switches / dials and it all comes together very well . Now I wish they would have done it to XT5 , hope that will happen . It’s priced very competitive and over all is distinguished enough to stand out in its segment . That is a complaint by some that crossovers are all starting to look alike , but Cadillac stayed true to it’s new design philosophy ( image ) and that will help sales .

    1. I really did like that. I noticed that it was in the door sills and the rear taillights on our old 2014 CTS. This may sound stupid, but the only thing i miss about our old CTS was the classic “Cadillac” script. On the XT5 its just a plain old Cadillac symbol.

  13. Nice, but what happen to the plug-in?

  14. Would you compare the XT4 to a Volvo XC60 or a XC40?

    Reply
    1. XT60 from a size standpoint, XT40 from a price standpoint.

The same for every other European luxury brand.

      Reply
      1. Isn’t the cargo space of the XT4 substantially smaller that the space in the XC60? They show it as 30 cubic feet versus 22 for the Cadillac. How do Nissan and Honda find almost 40 cubic feet in their similar sized CUV’s?

  15. 1. Is the screen ONLY controlled through the knob, or is it also a touchscreen?

    2. Does it have run-flat tires and a spare?

    3. is it as easy to get into and out of as the XT5?

    Reply
    1. 1. It can be controlled via touchscreen and via the rotary controls.
      2. No to run-flats… yes to spare.
      3. That’s relative based on your height and hip point… though I do believe that the XT4 is a bit lower.

      1. When will the “build your own” page be up on Cadillac’s website?

        and thanks.
