Some units of the 2024 and 2025 Chevy Traverse crossover require adjustments to the front brake pipe if it is contacting the body frame rail, according to a new service update issued by General Motors.
GM service update number N242453170 says that a tiny minority of affected vehicles will also require replacement of the Front RH Brake Pipe along with hydraulic brake bleeding because of the problem.
Affected units of the 2024 and 2025 Chevy Traverse have a condition where the pipe containing the brake line is incorrectly in contact with the body frame rail of the crossover. Before beginning work on customer vehicles brought to the dealership for any reason, or Traverse units still in inventory, service personnel should verify involvement both with the GM Global Warranty Management system and with direct inspection.
Any 2024 or 2025 Chevy Traverse unit unaffected by the issue will have 5 millimeters (about 0.2 inches) clearance separating the front right-hand brake pipe and the frame rail. If there is no clearance, dealers are instructed to apply the fix, which consists of “using controlled adjustment” to “create proper clearance,” or moving the pipe slightly away from the frame.
In a small number of Chevy Traverse units – about 2.5 percent by GM estimates – the front RH brake pipe, or front RH brake line assembly, will require complete replacement. If this is necessary, service personnel will also have to bleed the hydraulic brakes, plus recover and recharge the A/C system. Both types of fixes are available free of charge to Traverse owners through the end of New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage.
As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Traverse debuts several changes to the third-gen crossover. The entry-level LS trim is gone, with the LT trim now offered as the most affordable trim level, with prices starting at $41,995 and going up to a base MSRP of $58,795 for the AWD RS. The High Country trim returns, slotting between the Z71 and RS, while less standard safety features are offered for the 2025 model year.
All 2025 Traverse trim levels draw motivation from the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine providing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque of output according to The General’s estimates. FWD is standard and AWD optional on all trims except the Z71, where AWD as standard.
Under the sheet metal, the third-generation Traverse rides on the GM C1 platform. Production of the 2025 model year kicked off two days late on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
