The 2025 Traverse is offered as a crossover SUV in FWD or AWD across the following trim levels (product code in parentheses):

FWD

  • 1LT (1LB45)
  • 1LZ / High Country (1LD56)
  • 1RS (1LD56)

AWD

As first reported by GM Authority, the Premier and High Country trims have been dropped for the third generation. A Traverse Premier was expected to launch for the 2025 model year, but Chevy changed its mind and launched the model as a Traverse High Country instead.

Changes, Updates, New Features

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse sees minor changes such as the addition of the High Country trim and deletion of the LS trim, a more potent alternator for all trims, two new wheels options, and more.

Powertrain

Motivation for the 2025 Chevy Traverse continued to be sourced from a single powerplant – the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine developing 315 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.

2025 Chevrolet Traverse Powertrain
Engine Aspiration Transmission Power (hp / kW @ RPM) Torque (lb-ft / Nm @ RPM) Axle Ratio
2.5L LK0 I-4 Turbocharged 8-Speed Auto (MF8) 328 / 244 @ 5500 326 / 442 @ 3500 3.49

The maximum trailering rating for the Traverse is 5,000 pounds or 2,268 kilograms, same as the second-generation model.

An eight-speed automatic transmission connects this engine to the crossover’s drivetrain. This is GM’s nine-speed transmission with one forward speed removed, a conscious decision made by GM engineers.

Chassis & Suspension

Front-wheel-drive is standard on the 2025 Chevy Traverse and all-wheel-drive is available as an option. The Traverse Z71 features a trim-exclusive “off-road-capable” twin-clutch AWD system on the Z71.

Platform

The 2025 Chevy Traverse continues to ride on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform.

Production

The 2025 Chevy Traverse will continue to be assembled by GM USA at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

Pricing

The 2025 Traverse has the following starting MSRPs by trim level, including the $1,395 destination freight charge:
