2025 Chevy Traverse Offers Fewer Standard Safety Features

GM is offering fewer standard safety features on the 2025 Chevy Traverse compared to the 2024 Chevy Traverse, which debuted last July as the first model year of the crossover’s all-new third generation.

The 2025 Chevy Traverse still offers a solid lineup of safety features, but several of the standard features added for the 2024 model year have now become optional, as the following table shows:

Notably, the 2025 Chevy Traverse is dropping the entry-level LS trim level, while the High Country trim is returning after a one-year hiatus. The Bow Tie brand is making other changes to the 2025 Traverse as well. The Driver Confidence Package (RPO code BGP), which was standard across all trim levels on the 2024 Traverse, is now optional on the LT and Z71 trims for the 2025 model year.

The revised package now includes (with RPO codes in parenthesis):

  • 120-volt power outlet (KI6)
  • Rear Pedestrian Alert (UKK)
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (UVX)
  • Reverse Automatic Braking (UVZ)

Motivation is provided to the crossover by a single powerplant choice, specifically the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, developing a GM-estimated 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Most trim levels equip front-wheel drive as standard and offer all-wheel drive as an option. However, the Z71 gets AWD as standard.

Under the body panels, the Traverse uses the GM C1 platform for structure. Production of the 2025 model year is scheduled to kick off on Monday, October 14th, 2024 at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  1. Decontenting is the latest way to gouge among automakers. They’ll regret it, eventually. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

    1. Or, this is the start of the “Subscription / Post purchase” Option Activation. Like BMW, they are all looking at the Built with hardware, pay to activate software option to take even more cash out of your pocket.

    2. They dropped the base LS trim and are making these features optional in order to lower the price of the now base LT trim. My guess this is more a move to simplify the lineup but adding the High Country kinda complicates it on the other end now. I seriously thought GM was replacing luxury Chevrolet trims with premium sporty and rugged trim options in order to move more luxury trim seeking customers over to Buick and GMC.

  2. Good, less standard features should drive down the base price for those of us who don’t care about those features.

    1. Now read the part where they dropped the base trim. It ain’t about affordability.

    2. They need an opinion for the 3.6 V6 engine or add some hybrid motors options. I’m not saying go to plug in hybrid, but regen hybrid would be great. The 2.5 I4 is way too small. I4 pressures are way to high for the small turbo engine. I would like much less expensive base models and less expensive models above thw base. Do we really need 20inch monitors, driver assistance, TPM, how many cup holders are enough, get rid of touch screens, give me knows and dials, bring back affordable smaller wheels get rid of 20″ wheels.

    3. $500 isn’t going to make a difference….

  3. So basically they removed the base LS trim and are bridging the gap by making some of the standard features of the LT trim optional now. I guess I expect only a moderate price hike? Now I wonder if the Lyriq is getting the same treatment with the dropping of the Tech trim.

  4. It’s all part of the “shrinkflation” scheme retailers are foisting on the public where we pay the same for much less. My next truck will be a Work Truck stripped buck naked.

  5. What does A1/A2 above refer too?
