LS7 V8-Powered Saturn Sky Up For Auction In Illinois

The Saturn Sky, alongside its counterpart, the Pontiac Solstice, was a handsome little two-door roadster with a ton of appeal, offering up slick styling, planted driving dynamics, and plenty of headroom when the top came down. The various four-cylinder engine options on offer fit the bill with decent straight-line performance. Nevertheless, more is better, and now, this particular Saturn Sky is offering up a sizable dose of V8 thunder, available to the highest bidder via a new online auction.

LS7 engine swap in a 2007 Saturn Sky.

This 2007 Saturn Sky was modified by Mallet Performance Cars in Berea, Ohio, and now sports the naturally aspirated 7.0L V8 LS7 under its extended hood line. Better known as the powerhouse that motivates the C6-generation Corvette Z06, the LS7 produces 505 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque when equipped by the Vette – quite the increase over the 177 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque produced by the 2.4L I4 LE5 that powered the Sky from the factory. This particular example was upgraded even further thanks to ported cylinder heads, long-tube headers, and a custom camshaft.

Output reaches the rear wheels through the T56 six-speed manual transmission and a LUK Pro Gold clutch, feeding an 8.8-inch rear end and 3.73 gears. Further upgrades include adjustable Penske coilover suspension, upgraded sway bars, and SSBC brakes with 13-inch rotors up front. Outside, we find custom flared rear quarter panels, functional front fender vents, and a set of Forgeline 18-inch wheels. The exterior is covered in Black Onyx paint, while the interior is decked out in black leather with alligator inserts, making for quite the menacing little roadster.

The listing says this modified Saturn Sky has 21,000 miles on it and is located in Sunnyside, Illinois. The auction is scheduled to end on Tuesday, August 13th, with the current highest bid of seven placed as of this writing set at $23,251.
