Hennessey Hypes The 1,000-HP Camaro ZL1 Exorcist Final Edition: Video

With the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro officially discontinued late last year, fans of the iconic performance machine were left with a profound sense of loss. However, Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering is ensuring the Camaro gets the sendoff it deserves with this – the Camaro ZL1 Exorcist Final Edition. This beastly machine is designed to take down the mighty Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 (another recently retired nameplate), and packs a monstrous 1,000-horsepower punch – a fitting tribute to the Chevy icon’s legacy. It also sounds just as good as it performs, and now, Hennessey has released a new four-minute video demonstrating exactly that.

The video was recently posted to Hennessey’s official YouTube channel, and features the Exorcist Final Edition both on the road and tearing up the test track. Critically, the video is devoid of any narration, allowing the supercharged V8 to take center stage.

The video begins with a close-up look at the high-performance parts that make the Exorcist what it is. After a quick wash, the coupe is unleashed on the open road,. The action later shifts to Hennessey’s test track, where the Exorcist exhibits its full capabilities. Throughout the video, we also get glimpses of the car at rest, as well as a peek inside the cockpit, but the star of the show is undoubtedly the sound of that supercharged V8.

To achieve its incredible power, Hennessey has upgraded the Camaro ZL1’s supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 with an extensive list of performance enhancements. These include a new high-flow supercharger, high-flow intake, upgraded fueling system, new injectors, ported heads, a custom camshaft, and an upgraded valve train. The modifications push the engine’s output to a staggering 1,000 horsepower and 966 pound-feet of torque, a significant leap from the 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque you get from the factory.

With these upgrades, the Exorcist Final Edition rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds, while the quarter-mile is conquered in a blistering 9.57 seconds. The top speed is 217 mph.

  2. It’s disappointing to see just how many people don’t understand HOW TO MAKE A VIDEO.
First off, The engine sounds very unhappy at high RPM. Sounds great at lower RPMs
The video makes it look like it falls on its face at the RPMs that they are showing.
One of the 1000 hp Corvette videos I watched where they took a YouTube channel guy out for a run to a bit over 200 mph had the camera focused on the tach and speedo while looking down the road. This really gave the impression of the car pulling though the rpm range.
But as a Camaro enthusiast. This was poorly done.
Yes I understand they were emphasizing supercharger wine. But it sounded awful.
    This car deserves much better.
