The Final 2024 Chevy Camaro Was A ZL1 With A Clutch

The sixth-generation Chevy Camaro has officially sunset, with the last unit rolling off the production line at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan last week. While it’s certainly a poignant moment for fans of the nameplate, Camaro enthusiasts will no doubt be happy to learn that the last 2024 Chevy Camaro built was a top-spec performance model with three pedals.

According to a Chevy spokesperson, the last 2024 Chevy Camaro to roll off the line was an example of the ZL1 trim level in the Coupe body style, finished in Summit White paint (paint code GAZ) and equipped with the GM six-speed manual transmission, plus the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package (RPO code A1Z).

GM declined to state if the final 2024 Chevy Camaro built will be sent to a dealer, or if it will go to the GM Heritage Center.

For those readers who may be unfamiliar, the ZL1 1LE Extreme Track Performance Package enhances the Camaro’s on-track abilities with upgrades like performance suspension and DSSV dampers, 19-inch wheels, specific ratios for the six-speed manual transmission, and new aero components, as well as aesthetic upgrades like a satin black hood wrap and exposed carbon fiber body pieces.

As GM Authority covered previously, the last 2024 Chevy Camaro Coupe rolled off the line on December 14th, 2023, roughly a week later than initially planned, while the last 2024 Chevy Camaro Convertible rolled off the line on November 22nd, as originally scheduled.

Although the end of the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro is now officially in the history books, GM has confirmed that the Camaro nameplate will return at some point in the future. That said, the timeline for the Camaro’s return and the nature of the vehicle to which the nameplate will be attached remains unclear. One possibility is that the Camaro name will be attached to an entire EV sub-brand that will include coupe and convertible models, as well as two-door and four-door crossovers and a mid-priced sports car serving as the brand flagship.

As a reminder, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 is equipped with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, while all sixth-gen Camaro variants ride on the GM Alpha platform.

  4. IMHO…Expect the “Camaro” name to be handled the same way as “Blazer”.
    Will be nothing like the past, but it’ll be 100% reliant on its heritage.
    It’s all about volume production….

  5. Thankfully I got one of the last 2024 2SS convertible manuals. So sad to have electric crap forced upon us when we all know it’s no greener than the grass & it’s all a ridiculous marketing ploy to stuff pockets.

    In fact how many here complaining even bought a Camaro in the last 5 years?

    Thought so. Now you know why they stopped building them.

    Cool cars are cool but they have to make money and they will have to fit future regulations that GM is facing.

    You want change vote and make the change.

    1. Picked up a 2SS convertible, A10, red interior on December 14. Very happy to have one of the last of this historic car. Traded in a 2019 Corvette GS convertible, I like the Camaro a lot.

        Anyone not buying has no reason to complain. The Camaro was a nice car but not one that GM depends on for future sales or profits like other models.

        The future is going to be tough if they remained force to build EV models. This is about survival of the auto industry in general.

        Even if we can get the EPA to back off the CARB states will remain a problem.

        This whole situation needs to be understood by your head not your heart.

    3. Ordered a Camaro in February 2023 and bought it in September. Love the car and remain committed to the brand, assuming it remains a gasoline engine, RWD, manual transmission

    4. Bought my ZLE about a year ago. Tried to order a ZLE in sharkskin metallic but GM wouldn’t take the order.

  8. They should just let the Camaro die instead of turning it into a rolling blender.

    And, yes, I have a 2020 Camaro, so I can say that.

    gm (not GM) is going to lose its identity and customer base because we have zero use for a toaster on wheels, nor boring SUV’s.

  9. I will never buy a GM/Chev product again. Not from them at least. I ordered a 2024 LT1 with collector Panther package and dual exhaust. Told 5mths later that they were not building my car. You can still build 2023 and 2024 on their Canadian website. False advertising….was told by GM Canada sales rep that no guarantee that they will build ever order that comes in. They suck. Now looking at the Challenger to see if I can get one of those I know they are no longer making either but at least they have built a bunch that are on lots.

  10. I’m having my 92 completely refinished from the body to the motor, should be done by February. I’ve had this Camaro since it was brand new. I WILL never buy a electric car especially a Camaro….junk city

  11. My son owns a 2019 ZL1 1LE and we went to Road America for a track weekend. Let me just say it is a beast on track , the brakes are superb , the handling is spot on and the power is amazing. We were toping out at 158 mph on the back stretch into the hard left turn over and over again. GM did an amazing job with this machine. And my boy can drive. I told him I was going to bring my 1990 ZR-1 out to spank him , lol.

  12. I was there for each “last Camaro/Firebird” except this one. The answer is if you wanted a specific model to remain, buy them. If everyone bought one they would continue to build them.

  13. I have a 4th and a 6th gen. My son has a 5th gen and my dad has a 3rd gen so, needless to say, I’m still mourning the end of the Camaro as a muscle car. Consequently, I’ve made the decision to stop driving my Camaros and just buy something else fun to get around in like maybe a Mustang GT or a M340 as my daily and go all in on the hyper-preservation of my babies since my condo doesn’t have charging stations. Sadly, this is where my train stops.

    I TRADED IN MY 2017 CAMARO 2SS {AUTOMATIC}.
    I’M SO GLAD I DID. I LOVE THE MANUAL. SO MUCH MORE FUN TO DRIVE.
    I’M SO SAD TO SEE THE CAMARO GO. I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR.
    I’M 75 YEARS YOUNG, SO THIS PROBABLY BE MY LAST NEW CAR.
    WHAT A WAY TO GO. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!

  16. The Camaro is such a great car- trading my 2022 1ss in on a 2024 2ss. Hoping someday they will come out with the mid engine Camaro as I feel they will bring it back.
