The Vallejo Police Department in Vallejo, California, a city located just north of San Francisco, has posted a series of photos showing off the department’s latest bust – a modified 2007 Cadillac CTS allegedly involved in a local sideshow. According to the post, the CTS was one roughly 500 cars participating in the illegal car gathering. Interestingly, police also found a massive 10-foot python hanging out in the cabin.
Per the Vallejo Police Department, law enforcement responded to multiple calls on the evening of August 23rd, 2024 to disrupt a sideshow taking place at the intersection of Mare Island Way and Harbor way. Callers reported that hundreds of cars were participating. For readers who may be unaware, sideshows, also known as a street takeovers, are illegal car gatherings wherein participants block off public roads to perform burnouts, donuts, and other vehicular stunts.
The police response was a joint effort between the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, American Canyon Police Department, Cal Maritime Police Department, Benicia Police Department, and California Highway Patrol, as well as CHP Air Operations. As police moved in, CHP Air Operations stated that occupants in a 2007 Cadillac “CT6” (the sedan pictured in the Vallejo PD photos is actually a CTS) were pointing a laser at the airborne unit while performing donuts on the highway. The occupants allegedly shined the laser at police officers as well.
Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, initiating a pursuit. The pursuit ended in the city of Hercules after occupants abandoned the vehicle. Upon further inspection, law enforcement discovered the snake inside the CTS.
All four suspects were apprehended at the scene. The three passengers were given misdemeanor citations and released, while the driver was arrested on multiple charged, including felony evading. The snake was returned to its owner, while the car was towed.
Sounds like the driver bit off more than they could chew.
