Following the mid-cycle refresh introduced for the 2024 model year, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD debuts only minor changes and updates compared to the previous year’s revisions. Now, it seems the Sierra HD will drop only a single paint color from its palette for the 2025 model year.
The Redwood Metallic (color code G48) exterior paint choice will be officially retired from the lineup at the end of 2024 GMC Sierra HD production, with no replacement color planned. In fact, Redwood Metallic has been built out and unavailable to order since the week of June 3rd.
With Redwood Metallic dropped from the exterior paint list, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD will be offered in a total of nine paint colors, including the following choices (paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Cardinal Red (G7C)
- Downpour Metallic (GXP)
- Onyx Black (GBA)
- Sterling Metallic (GXD)
- Summit White (GAZ)
- Thunderstorm Gray (GNO)
- Titanium Rush Metallic (G6M)
- Volcanic Red Tintcoat (GNT)
- White-Frost Tricoat (G1W)
Turning to other options for the heavy-duty pickup, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD will have seven trim levels – Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate – for its 2500 HD configuration, and six trim levels – Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate – for 3500 HD trucks.
As GM Authority previously revealed, pricing for the 2025 GMC Sierra HD ranges from $48,295 for the Pro trim configured in RWD with a regular cab, long bed, and L8T engine, up to $95,095 base MSRP for the 4WD Denali Ultimate trim with the Duramax turbodiesel powerplant option. A $1,995 DFC is included in these prices.
Besides dropping Redwood Metallic from its paint palette, the 2025 Sierra HD will lose three wheel choices, adding one set of wheels as a replacement. Other changes introduced with the model year changeover include the addition of optional Front Park Assist as part of the 1SA Pro Safety Plus Package (RPO code PQA) and Sierra HD Pro Safety Plus Package (RPO code PED) for the Pro and SLE trim levels respectively.
The Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering (RPO code KSG) system will be expanded to standard equipment status on four rather than two trim levels and offered as an option on the rest. Available powerplants will continue to consist of the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, now providing 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.
The Sierra HD continues to use a more capable variant of the GM T1 platform under the body panels for structure. Production of the pickup takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.
