Refreshed 2024 Acura TLX Continues To Rival Cadillac CT5

Acura has unveiled the refreshed 2024 Acura TLX sedan, showing off new styling, expanded tech items in the cabin, and a few tweaks to the performance. Both a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder and a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 are once again offered. The refreshed 2024 Acura TLX will continue to rival the Cadillac CT5 in the segment, the latter of which was refreshed for the 2025 model year.

The updates to the exterior design are relatively minor, with the biggest change being the frameless Diamond Pentagon grille that takes cues from Acura’s Type S Concept vehicle. The TLX Type S offers a new 20-inch wheel design as well.

Inside the cabin, the refreshed 2024 Acura TLX is equipped as standard with a 12.3-inch Precision Cockpit Digital Instrument Cluster, plus a larger central display and ambient LED lighting. Cabin noise levels are also down across the lineup. The AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver assist systems has been expanded, and now includes improved collision prevention performance. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility are both standard, as is a wireless charging pad.

As for the mechanicals, the refreshed 2024 Acura TLX offers two familiar powertrain options, starting with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder producing 272 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 280 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm. There’s also a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 on offer producing 355 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 354 pound-feet of torque at 1,400 rpm. Both powerplants mate to a 10-speed automatic transmission, with the V6 in the Type S variant receiving a sportier tune. The TLX Type S now offers sharpened throttle response in Sport+ drive mode as well. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are on hand to put the power down.

The refreshed 2024 Acura TLX will arrive in dealers later this month.

With regard to sales, the Acura TLX trails just behind the Cadillac CT5 among D-Segment luxury cars:

  1. The refreshed Acura TLX looks good, but so does the refreshed CT5V.
The TLX 3.0 twin turbo has 355 hp,the CT5V has 5 more. But the torque of the TLX is only 354 vs 405 foot pounds, a significant difference for the CT5V. And the CT5V has magnetic shocks.
In summary, the TLX is an improvement over the older model, but the CT5V is still a better car.

  2. The Acura is beautiful and looks aggressive. Cadillac has a less expensive rival on its heels
