General Motors unveiled the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia just a few weeks ago at the 2023 North American International Auto Show, pulling the sheets on the crossover’s latest third generation. Among the updates and change is new styling and larger exterior dimensions, the latter of which was explored in a recent GM Authority exclusive. Now, we’re getting a look at the third-gen Acadia’s early styling concepts thanks to the following design sketches.
Recently making the rounds on social media thanks to GM Design’s official Instagram feed (@generalmotorsdesign), these GMC Acadia sketches were created by GM Automotive Designer Benjamin Zavala, who, according to LinkedIn, has worked as a designer at General Motors for about nine years now. The designs illustrate the new crossover front to back, showing off striking styling that’s meant to suggest a “Strong and Bold” look for the model’s latest third generation.
Although the sketches are clearly intended only for inspiration, as opposed to the final production-ready design, there are clearly some strong design influences between these early concepts and the final product. The front end, for example, presents sharp lighting signatures that run parallel to the hood line, hooking into curving vertical signatures to create a C-shaped lighting layout. Further vertical lighting bits are seen lower in the bumper corners, while prominent styling lines are seen underlining the bumpers. The grille section is wide and rectangular, visually enhancing the vehicle’s front end width.
Moving into the profile, we see a long, flat roofline, with the window line rising as it approaches the rearmost pillars. The wheel designs on these concept images are obviously oversized to an extreme degree, but do well to enhance the “Strong and Bold” stance of the crossover.
The rear end finishes it off with a square shape and several horizontal styling lines. The rear lights, for example, are stretched across the rear hatch in a horizontal layout that underlines the rear glass, while a quartet of square exhaust pipes sit in the corners.
As a reminder, the production-spec 2024 GMC Acadia will launch early next year.

Glad it was toned down and didn’t end up looking like the sketches.
Why do all these sketches have the fugliest wheels ever? I think they should have to make just one model year of those with the condition that those “sketch artist” have to buy whatever isn’t sold.
It’s a Hot Wheel concept design including the wheels.
Thick rocker panel and oversized wheels (necessary for ground clearance) makes me think this is a concept for another EV.
We have a 2920 Acadia Denali and like it, especially the V-6. I thought about purchasing a 2024 for more room, decided no way due to 4 cylinder turbo charging, I believe you will need to run premium fuel with the turbo, no money savings wit 4 banger
Bet it looks futuristic.
I see a lot to like about the new Acadia. But the area behind the B pillar looks too much like the previous version of the Pilot for me. I need something a bit more unique
