SAIC-GM, the joint venture in charge of General Motors’ core business in China, has just officially revealed the all-new Buick Electra E5 Avenir.
The automaker revealed the first official images and details about the all-new Buick Electra E5 Avenir, the top-of-the-line variant of the all-electric crossover and the brand’s first vehicle based on GM’s Ultium architecture. Representing the pinnacle of Buick luxury and refinement, the Avenir trim is introduced for the first time on the brand’s zero-emission vehicle adding the highest level of craftsmanship and a more muscular powertrain.
In particular, the all-new Buick Electra E5 Avenir features a number of unique design elements that reinforce the model’s premium character under the “beauty in detail” tagline from the inside out. In addition to the distinctive badging on the front doors, the Electra E5 Avenir adopts a new horizontal louver pattern with interspersed bright moldings on the grille, multiple chrome accents and new 20-inch aluminum wheels.
For its part, the interior design of the new Buick Electra E5 Avenir is even more sophisticated by adding top-quality materials and an exclusive color combination called “Starry Polar Night.” The beige Nappa leather seats are decorated with distinctive stitching and Avenir emblems on the headrests, while the steering wheel and the entire upper part of both the dash and the doors are wrapped in blue leather, exclusive to the trim level.
Technically, the Buick Electra E5 Avenir comes standard with AWD and a powertrain comprised of two Ultium Drive motors – one on each axle – offering a combined output of 211 kW or 283 horsepower and 465 Nm or 343 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, the Electra E5 Avenir features a specifically tuned chassis with multiple drive modes and power regeneration settings that provide a comfortable and efficient ride.
The all-new Buick Electra E5 will be officially launched in China on April 13th, when more details on trim levels and retail pricing will be announced. SAIC-GM teased that the initial lineup of the compact-to-midsize crossover would come in three distinctive trims with a standard front-wheel drivetrain, along with the recently announced Buick Electra E5 Avenir AWD.

It really will be interesting to see the US pricing structure. Buick traditionally has offered a more premium product than Hyundai or Kia.
I like this. Might be a customer.
Buick, please bring this to the U.S for those who want to drive an EV with more luxury features than the Chevys but cost less than the Cadillacs.
More money for the CCP.
I think it looks decent for an EV, but design still impedes on utility, which is why these vehicles were created. Furthermore, I fail to understand why the dash screens have to protrude from the dash, instead of being beautifully designed in, no matter who’s building the vehicle. Also, EV’S may be essential for the future, but having our government and scientists, scaring people into believing it’s the way to save the planet. Is just another way of spreading false information, to make money on a tradjedy they created.
Given the overall size, height and length of these screens in cars, it doesn’t make much sense to try and place them beneath a dash pad. I like the exposed screen look if done right. I think gm is doing a great job integrating screens, first with Cadillac and now Buick. The key is for the screen to have an elegant shape with curves and contour – the opposite of the rectangular blocks MB puts in some of their cars that don’t flow with the rest of the interior.
Nice looking it kind of looks like my wife’s Enclave from the side and back… It just puzzles me everyone made fun or nit-picked the new Encore GX… The front end is the same as this Electra with very slight differences to be honest I was never a fan of the old Buick waterfall grill and stubby looking rear end on the old enore even the GX. I also like the interior instead of breaking up the screen it’s one unit which is also nice. And to answer somebodys question no electricity powered cars are not going to save the planet but IF and it’s a BIG IF we could get more wind, solor, turbine… Even natural gas to help supply the electric that would help… I am not saying to get rid of ICE cars altogether it just be nice to stick it to the oil companies and let them know that no you don’t have us by the balls anymore to keep lowering and raising gas and oil prices at will.
Range??? When will it launch in the USA???
Design is in line with Chinese EVs. Mediocre, doesn’t scream aspirational, is exactly how I’d expect Saturn 2023 to look. With sales down Barra must feel change will help when Envision set forth a workable style. EElectra E4 is way more stylish! These would sell well as GM imports to Europe under either GM or Buick badge.
Why Buick Electra E5 Avenir as opposed to Buick Electra 5 Avenue? The E is redundant since every Electra is electric.
Maybe they felt it needed the “E” to mirror Infiniti, whose vehicles have either a Q (Q50, Q60) or QX (QX50, QX55, QX60, QX80)?
This might be the best steering wheel GM has ever offered.
GM needs to figure out how to Mass Produce all of their BEV’s because they are highly covered. Lets Go GM!!!
Buick Electra Avenir looks like a true winner; arresting design for the interior and exterior. But for me, the 375 mile range puts it over the top.. Its presence on the road will be well received. I want one.
