2023 Chevy Traverse Chrome Essentials Package Unavailable To Order

GM Authority has learned the Chrome Essentials Package (RPO code PDV) is currently unavailable to order for the 2023 Chevy Traverse. At this point, it’s unclear if the package will return for the 2023 model year or if the option has been discontinued.

Additionally, it is currently unknown if the Chrome Essentials Package will be available as on option on the upcoming 2024 Chevy Traverse. The 2024 model year will launch the all-new third generation of Chevrolet‘s full-size crossover.

The Chrome Essentials Package is normally offered as an optional extra on the LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, and Premium trim levels of the 2023 Chevy Traverse with a cost of $295. It is not available on the RS or High Country trim levels. The package consists of the following individual elements:

  • Bright front door sill plates (RPO code SAI)
  • Chrome mirror caps (RPO code VKO)

Several other options are currently unavailable for the 2023 Chevy Traverse, either on some or all of the trim levels they are normally offered for. These include both packages and standalone equipment or features, as listed below (RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Premium Carpet Floor Mat Package (PDU)
  • Blackout Package (PDB)
  • Hit the Road Package (PCX)
  • Black Accent Package (PDM)
  • Molded assist steps (VXW)
  • Garage door opener with 3-button universal programmable remote (5LE)

Whether any of these options will return before the 2023 Chevy Traverse ceases production isn’t clear at this point. Several months remain before the December 2023 start of regular production (SORP) for the crossover’s 2024 model year and the debut of the next generation, exclusively reported by GM Authority last December.

GM Authority also brought you spy shots of the 2024 Chevy Traverse LT trim testing, featuring a multi-tiered fascia, slim LED lighting signatures, and a boxy, upright configuration among other design elements setting it apart from the 2023 Chevy Traverse.

A few weeks ago in March 2023, we additionally brought you spy spots of the new outdoor-focused Activ trim level that GM plans to add to the 2024 Chevy Traverse trim lineup. The Activ prototype we photographed sported red tow hooks, a skid plate, possibly new lighting signatures front and rear, and increased front bumper ground clearance. Meanwhile, the currently range-topping High Country trim may be dropped for 2024.

Launch of the nameplate’s third generation with the 2024 Chevy Traverse is part of a trio of large crossover generational debuts planned by GM. The Chevy Traverse will be the first available, followed by the next-gen GMC Acadia, and finally the next-gen Buick Enclave.

GM plans to include an updated powertrain in the three next-generation crossovers, with the “torque monster” turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine developing 310 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque appearing to be a likely candidate.

The current-generation 2023 Chevy Traverse is motivated by the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of  torque, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  1. I’m OK with the scarcity of different options of the diffetent models but still not certain about going to the turbo I4 rather than the tried and true V6. I use this type of vehicle a few times per season for towing a small trailer with 6 guys inside(none less tha 5’11 and undet 200 lbs). Here’s hoping the V6 will continue to be available at least as an option.

  2. In June of 2022 we purchased a 2022 Traverse that was to include the blackout package. The front grill was not available for the blackout package, but we were told it would be in soon. Here it is almost a year later and we are told the part is still NOT available. How true is the part shortage for the 2022 model Traverse nation wide?
