Chevrolet Chile Sales Tank 41 Percent In February 2023

Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

The GM Authority Take

The negative performance of Chevrolet Chile sales in February caused the Bowtie brand to become the third best-selling auto brand in the South American country for the first time in recent history. In fact, last month’s contraction represents Chevy’s fifth consecutive monthly decline in Chile as a result of a continued reduction in inventory of its most popular models.

The drop was driven by lower sales of the Chevy Sail, Tracker and Onix – which suffered the highest rates of decline. In particular, the Sail went from being the brand’s best-selling vehicle to ranking in the bottom four nameplates on a year-over-year basis, as the amount of available units of the current-generation small sedan has been dwindling as it nears the end of its lifecycle.

On the other hand, the Chevy Groove, N400 and Silverado stood out with double and triple digit increases. The Groove posted the highest growth rate, becoming the brand’s best-selling model, both for February and for the year-to-date total. Meanwhile, the Silverado full-size pickup records its fifth month as the sales leader in its segment in Chile, ranking as the brand’s second-most popular vehicle in the country.
