2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Shows Off Dual-Mode Exhaust System: Video

The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing features a dual-mode exhaust as standard, which opens or closes exhaust flaps based on the drive mode setting: Stealth and Tour, in which the flaps are closed, or Sport and Track, in which the flaps are open. We recently published a video that gives us a closer look at how the car’s exhaust sounds in the different settings with this Summit White 2022 CT4-V Blackwing model as the star. It’s decked out in both carbon fiber packages (Carbon Fiber Package 1 and Carbon Fiber Package 2) along with the optional Satin Graphite wheels and dark quad trapezoidal exhaust tips, all of which compliment the white finish quite nicely.

With the flaps closed, the car doesn’t really sound all that aggressive, which is fine for two reasons. First, it’s the base level setting. Second, a quiet option is always needed.

When the exhaust flaps are open in Track or Sport modes, the true character of the CT4-V Blackwing really shines through. There’s more depth, more of a boom, and perhaps most importantly, there’re more turbo noises and crackles.

As a reminder, the lovely exhaust note is created by the twin-turbocharged 3.6L LF4 V6, which produces 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. With the utilization of the Global B electrical architecture creating quite an obstacle for aftermarket tuners, we don’t expect to see any CT4-V Blackwing models equipped with catless downpipes in the immediate future, though it’s probably only a matter of time.

Until then, we expect to see many aftermarket exhaust options for this ultra-high-performance small luxury sedan, which should uncork that beefy twin-turbo V6 a bit more and allow it to move air a little more freely. That may not result in any significant performance enhancements, but it will certainly make it a more raw and visceral experience so long as the pre-programmed pops don’t ruin it.

In any case, hit play on the embedded video below to experience the virtual sights and sounds of the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing.

  1. Show me a electric vehicle that sounds like that.

  2. I like the sound of my 2020 Denali 6.2 cold start dual exhaust better. But once warmed up you cannot hear it at idle. Cadillac sounds great also.

    1. Modify the exhaust screens. A quick YouTube search will show you. Basically a free exhaust sound upgrade

  3. Our 2018 ATS-V Coupe sounds ‘about’ like the CT4-V Blackwing Touring setting, or somewhat louder…..nice, but not quite like my Corvette tho.

  5. Unfortunately, a six banger sounds like……well………a six banger.

  6. I think my 2019 ats v sounds better , plus no crackle & pop which I don’t like. But to hear the cadillac engineers say that it sounds way better than the ats v. What a joke , but I guess they have to say that. Just like the magna ride 4 is supposedly so much improved over the 3rd generation. I drove one and could hardly distinguish any difference between the two.

    1. I had a 2019 ATS V, which I traded for the CT4 V BW and IMO the BW sounds much better than my ATS V. I am not talking about revving the engine while parked, I’m talking about engine note while driving. It was one of the few things the ATS V was missing but still a great car.

    2. Sounds like someone is jealous, lmao. I owned an ATS-V for 4 years and now have a 4BW and it sounds better and drives better. I loved my ATS-V but this 4BW is an improvement in every way. The exhaust note, the transmission, interior (that piano black in the ATS-V was a joke and CUE was even worse), Magride 4.0, road noise is much less, seats are a huge improvement, infotainment system have all been improved or fixed.
The ATS-V is an amazing car and tons of fun to drive, but I also know when something better comes along and the CT4 Blackwing is that car!

    1. You’re a hater, either support Cadillac and its evolution or drive your ATS-V forever!!!

  9. You had an old one with the antiquated cue system, those were garbage. 18 and newer have the later version. I drove a ct4 bw and if road noise is less its due to the Michelin 4s tires . Your old 16 had the trans fluid that absorbed moisture causing shuddering and other issues , that’s why it wasn’t optimal. I understand you’re trying to convince yourself that it’s so improved. I’d be doing the same thing. I wanted to get a bw but I was not Iimpressed enough to make the change. Plus I prefer a hi performance car to have two doors like my 2019 ats v in wave metallic.

  10. This is definitely on of the best performance bargains, they can keep the marked up CT5 BW…
