The 2022 Cadillac CT4 represents the third model year of the brand’s recently-launched, entry-level luxury sedan, and among the many changes and enhancements is the addition of several standard active safety features over the outgoing 2021 model.
The base Luxury trim level now benefits from Following Distance Indicator, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, IntelliBeam high beam assist and Rear Park Assist, all features that were previously part of the Driver Awareness Plus Package, which was optional on the Premium Luxury, Sport and CT4-V variants.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Cadillac CT4 Premium Luxury and Sport get upgraded with standard Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking and Reverse Automatic Braking, features that were previously available on the optional Driver Assist Package, as well as Front and Rear Park Assist that was part of the optional Front Lighting and Assist Package. In addition, all of the aforementioned features are now standard on the CT4-V.
Meanwhile, GM’s Super Cruise continues to be optional on the Premium Luxury and CT4-V trims. However, it becomes newly available on the 2022 Cadillac CT4 Sport. The semi-autonomous driver assistance system also bundles the HD Surround View Camera system.
The list of standard active safety features for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, new for the 2022 model year, nearly mirrors that of the CT4-V, although the enhanced Automatic Braking System, Reverse Automatic Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control aren’t available in conjunction with the model’s standard six-speed manual transmission.
Another key feature missing entirely from the CT4-V Blackwing is Super Cruise, since GM figures Blackwing customers probably won’t want it anyway. “Our focus with these V-Series Blackwing cars was to create a driver’s car,” Mirza Grebovic, Cadillac Performance Variant Manager, explained in an interview with GM Authority executive editor Alex Luft. “Super Cruise is offered on the luxury-oriented models.”
Last but not least, all trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac CT4 are now equipped with Buckle to Drive, which encourages seat belt use by restricting the driver from shifting out of park if the driver’s seat belt is not buckled. For those who don’t want to use it, the system can be disabled via the vehicle’s infotainment screen.
The 2022 Cadillac CT4 Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport models are powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 LSY gasoline engine, which produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to GM’s eight-speed automatic transmission. The Premium Luxury is optionally available with the turbocharged 2.7L I-4 L3B gasoline engine, which produces 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with GM’s 10-speed automatic. The 2022 CT4-V comes with a specially tuned version of the L3B engine that produces 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. It also gets the 10-speed auto. All of these trim levels are available in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is the highest-performance CT4 model and features GM’s twin-turbocharged 3.6L V6 LF4 gasoline engine that produces 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, allowing a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph. It comes standard with the Tremec 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while offering the 10-speed automatic as an option. The performance-oriented sedan is available only with rear-wheel drive.
Unfortunately, production of the Cadillac CT4 sedan at the GM Lansing Grand River plant has been paused until September 27th as a result of the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, as GM Authority recently reported.

I hope that GM dealers clearly explain how to disable the buckle to drive feature. Otherwise, we will repeat the fiasco of the early 70's when seatbelt interlocks were first tried. Not sure what will happen with rental cars. Probably a lot of non-GM owners having their choice to not purchase GM cars very positively reinforced.
The CT4 is such a sweet looking car. The car deserves a lot better. Least I'm glad more value is being put towards this car with more standard equipment.

I order last July a CT4-V Blackwing. I have the order number. Every time that I contact Cadillac.com , same story. My car order was accepted, and "will" be build Aug 23 2021. When I answer them that we are on September they apologize and they confirm that my order is there, ready, "Event description"3400 but.... no idea.
