  1. That is one handsome, clean looking car compared to ugly, busy looking BMW crossovers with tons of plastic patches all over the face. I wish GM had offered one extra top level trim with better interior. I don’t understand why they don’t go down that road which major trick Germans use. They offered most number of trim levels on every model. That way they create a halo effect for every model and luxury image. It definitely works for them and i also think it’s a no brainer.

Instead of creating dedicated platforms for every luxury level you’re using one platform and reducing development costs. You do not have to do much, just replace some interior cosmetic parts, instead of plastic variants use leatherette for instance. Why GM doesn’t do that is beyond me.

    1. Hey Wolfman, you’re spot-on with the exterior design: handsome and clean. I believe the genesis of the XT6 began with using the Omega platform (CT6), which would’ve leveraged a single-use platform to which you speak. I’m not an auto-development engineer, but GM decided leveraging the Omega would’ve been more costly than leveraging the CX1 on which the current GMC Acadia sits, then implemented its usual stretching, widening and heightening procedure, dropped in the XT5 interior and voila, the XT6 was born.

What a shame that GM employed its usual “What’s the Least We can Get Away With and Still Generate Decent Sales” playbook on a critical product. An Omega XT6 with an Escalade interior (say 2022 as a MCR) would’ve been a 1-2 knock-out- that’s Ford’s playbook these days…

  2. A Escalade/Lyric style dash would be very nice.

  3. GM, whether you realize it, you’ve actually designed a “wow, gotta have” interior for the new Escalade that I’m willing to bet is one of the top 2 reasons why Escalades are selling with zero incentives. Like Volvo has designed its beautiful yet circa 2016 interior and applied to all of its vehicles, you’ve GOT that interior with the Escalade- please apply it to the rest of your lineup, starting with the XT6.
