The 2022 GMC Hummer EV is stealing headlines left and right, and for good reason. As GM’s all-new all-electric off-roader, the new Hummer packs a mighty battery-driven punch, not to mention a slew of impressive tech features. Now, GM is capitalizing on that attention by auctioning off the first-ever retail production Hummer EV, a.k.a. VIN 001.
Typically, the first model in a vehicle line carries a higher value among collectors, so it makes sense for VIN 001 to be put up for auction. In this particular case, the total hammer price will go to benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a charity that supports and honors members of the military and first responders.
As for the GMC Hummer EV up for auction, VIN 001 is outfitted in the range-topping Edition 1 trim, and features a three-motor powertrain throwing down 1,000 horsepower. All that electric muscle propels the Hummer to 60 mph in about three seconds, with roughly 100 miles of range added in 10 minutes thanks to DC fast charge capabilities.
While undeniably quick, the new 2022 GMC Hummer EV is also hugely capable in the rough stuff, especially when equipped with the Extreme Off-Road Package, which is standard on each Edition 1 model. Standout features for the package include 35-inch OD mud terrain tires mounted to 18-inch wheels, full underbody skid plates, underbody cameras to spot hazards, and e-lockers front to back.
Additionally, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV features four-wheel steering and Crabwalk mode, adaptive air suspension, removable roof panels and an Open Air Infinity Roof.
Inside the cabin is a 12.3-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster and 13.4-inch digital infotainment screen, while the semi-autonomous GM Super Cruise driver assist system makes highway travel even easier.
The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 starts at $112,595. Reservations for the range-topper are currently sold out.
The first retail production 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will be auctioned off alongside the first retail production 2020 Chevy Corvette C8 Convertible during the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event in March.

It’s normal practice today not to sale vehicles but to rush them to auction to grab a Million dollars on vehicles that’s not worth it. Which is starting to look like a fake Reality Show that’s getting old to watch
Well, the grabbing of a million dollars does go to charity, which I’m sure is a tax write off, but still a nice thing.
