General Motors introduced brand-new generations for the Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban nameplates in a joint debut late last year in Detroit. Re-engineered and redesigned from the ground up, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban offer a host of innovative features and new technology. Now, GM engineers and designers talk about some of these features and technology in the following brief video.
Clocking in at a little over three minutes, 30 seconds, the video doesn’t go too in-depth on the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban, but it does a decent job providing an overview of some of the highlights.
First up is the available Power Sliding Center Console, which slides back and forth a full 10 inches between the first-row seats to provide versatile storage solutions. For example, sliding the console rearwards reveals a hidden storage compartment that’s perfect for smaller items, while also providing two additional cup holders for second-row customers.
Speaking of those seated in back, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban offer more rear legroom than the outgoing models, including an extra 2.3 inches of second-row legroom and an extra 2.2 inches of third-row legroom in the Suburban, and an extra 3 inches of second-row legroom and an impressive 10.1 inches of extra third-row legroom in the Tahoe.
What’s more, these gains aren’t the result of massive increases to exterior dimensions, with the 2021 Chevy Tahoe adding 6.8 inches in overall length compared to the 2020 model year, and the 2021 Chevy Suburban adding just 1.3 inches in overall length compared to the 2020 model year. Factor in the substantial gains to rear cargo room, including an extra 10.2 cubic-feet of space behind the third row in the Tahoe and an extra 16.2 cubic-feet of space behind the second row in the Suburban, and clearly, GM’s engineers and designers accomplished quite a bit with these next-gen vehicles.

Where’s that 2 door 2 wheel drive Tahoe??
The big question is how long will it be until Chevrolet integrates some of the advance technology of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV into the Suburban and Tahoe or will we need to wait until 2030-2035 when Chevrolet will introduce an EV replacement for the Suburban.
Why are there no fog lights, adjustable pedals, adjustable seat belt slider and cheap plastic trim in a 60k plus vehicle?
Do it have a power tilt & telescope steering wheel ?
All this new technology is great and all, but how about the reliability? Will there still be thousands of these on the road with 200k miles like the early 2000s SUV’s?? We’ve had many GM SUV’s (01 Suburban, 02 Tahoe, 04 Yukon Denali, 07 Yukon XL) but our 16 Tahoe is by far the worst in terms of reliability. This thing seems to be needing something every time its at the dealership!
