Does Chevrolet have another Corvette Z06 variant in the works? New spy shots hint that could be the case, though it’s only speculation at this point.
Spy photographers captured the strange Corvette Z06 finished in a matte gray color and bright orange accents, and the car is also running the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1‘s optional rear wing. Otherwise, the entire car appears to be a standard Corvette Z06.
The photos ask more questions than provide answers. Why go through the trouble of painting the delicate orange accents? Why only fit the ZR1’s rear wing and keep the standard Z06 aero bits? Even the brake calipers sport the bright orange hue. The color is intentional here, we’re just unsure why. We also see tow hooks at the front and rear of the car and an orange roll cage inside the cockpit.
Perhaps the Corvette team is exercising tweaks to the Corvette Z06 based on learnings from the Corvette ZR1. Then again, we’d like to believe the team would fully camouflage the car. Maybe we’ll see an even more track-focused Z06 model with ZR1 options. It’s anyone’s guess at this point.
Our spy photographer was unable to capture photos, so check out the pictures at the link below.

It’s likely the Z07 performance package.
LOVE this color screen. One of the best I have ever seen. I also think that is a Matte grey. Love it.
Tow hooks? Roll cage? Was there a winch? Perhaps this is the long-awaited 4WD off-road version.
Tow hooks, well recovery hooks, and cage are standard track kit
Chevrolet admitting that the spoiler developed for the Corvette Z06 didn’t create as much downforce as they thought or wanted and the ZR1’s larger rear wing will fix that.
