Retired Man Wins 2017 Corvette Dream Giveaway

It was a lucky day for John Williamson, a retired steelworker from Steelton, Pennsylvania. After participating in the last seven Corvette Dream Giveaway events, Williamson was drawn as the grand prize winner.

According to a report published by Corvette Blogger on Tuesday, he didn’t believe the phone call at first and it took some convincing to ensure Williamson that he, in fact, was the winner. He made his way to Clearwater, Florida, to take possession of the two Corvettes and a cash prize to cover the taxes.

The 2017 Corvette Dream Giveaway saw off a 2018 C7 Corvette Z06 Lingenfelter Signature Edition and a 1963 C2 Corvette Sting Ray. Williamson said he’s never had the opportunity to even drive a Corvette. Now, he has two to choose from every day.

The giveaway benefits numerous good causes, including the New Beginning Children’s Homes (NBCH), a provider of long-term residential care for foster children, as well as grants to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

At the end of the day, someone has to win. Williamson happened to be the lucky one this time.

  1. 63′ C2, my first Corvette. Bought in the Spring of 69′. I preferred the the instrument cluster and glove box lid and center stack of the 65′ so changed out the 63′ parts for the 65′ parts. I also changed out the hood several times, first time it was a small block 65′ hood, then later a 67′ big block hood. Still have the 63′ interior parts and hoods somewhere in the shop attic storage.

It used to be, back in the day, that you could find quite a few C2’s in the regular wrecking yards . Parts were cheap and plentiful.
