Mecum’s Portland auction is shaping up to be one heck of a showing. Alongside a 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro, Mecum has consigned a 1968 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro as well.
This 1968 Yenko Camaro is an early example—only 64 are estimated to have been produced—and this particular car is one of 20 known to still exist. The car was delivered new to Yenko Chevrolet and sold in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 2, 1968.
Featuring an L72 427 ci. 425 horsepower engine paired to a four-speed transmission, the Yenko Camaro was a force to be reckoned with during its day—and even to this day. It also features Yenko-installed Pontiac Motor Division wheels, power disc brakes, Yenko hood and 3.73 Positraction rear end.
After a rotisserie restoration, the car has won numerous awards at Camaro Nationals and Chevy Vettefest Nationals. Mecum doesn’t list an estimated price tag, but we have a feeling this will be one car to watch.
