The GM Authority Take
ELR production ended in February 2016, and these sales figures represent run-out sales of remaining inventory of the vehicle. Yet, as we have mentioned previously on various occasions, the discontinuation of the ELR does not at all mean the end of electrified Cadillac vehicles, as the prestige luxury brand will build the ELR’s electrification technology into other vehicles. The Cadillac CT6 PHEV is just one example of this strategy.

It would be interesting whether it was possible to upgrade the battery used in the Cadillac ELR with the battery used in the 2nd GEN Chevy Volt to get a longer electric battery range for the ELR.
I’m not sure what the kW-hr difference is between gen 1 and 2. But, I’ve seen the claim the gen 2 longer range is largely credited to a lower threshold state-of-charge. Maybe there’s possibility for a re-flash?
I consider the Voltecs more cautiously engineered than it’s EV competitors; a plus in it’s favor.
i think if they were to keep the ELR body and make it pure gas, it would make a nice convertible.
That’s what I always said, make a gas powered model. Put a stingray engine under the hood and make it a great sleeper.
Putting in a powerful engine in a FWD-based vehicle doesn’t seem like a good idea. The vehicle we’re talking about here is the ATS-V…
It would be better, easier, and also in line with Cadillac’s direction to simply do an ATS Convertible 🙂
