How about that –Â an LT1 with an aftermarket supercharger makes more power than the factory-supercharged LT4. We won’t say it’s completely unexpected, but it’s an interesting observation nonetheless. And you can thank the work of Hennessey Performance Engineering for that.
HPE has released a video of its 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS with the HPE750 package. The gains of 216 rear wheel horsepower and 153 rear wheel torque are the result of 7 pounds of boost, courtesy of a Magnuson supercharger. The total power output is a boastful 649 rear wheel HP and 580 rear wheel lb-ft of torque.
We can talk numbers all day – but it’s the sound of this Camaro that makes the video worth watching.
As you watch the video, ask yourself this question. Would you buy a 2016 Camaro SS and send it to Hennessey for the magic touch, or would you opt for more performance from the factory? Maybe a Camaro Z/28, or even a ZL1? It’s just something to think about as you feast your ears on the marvelous sounds of this Camaro.
