Vauxhall Set To Debut ‘Yes, It’s An Astra’ Ad Campaign

That’s not a Buick!” Sounds familiar, right? Vauxhall will take a familiar approach with the all-new British-built 2016 Astra when it debuts its latest advertising effort for the hatchback.

“Yes, it’s an Astra” will debut on Boxing Day to showcase everything the 2016 Vauxhall Astra brings forth, and how it will surprise more than a few people.

Simon Oldfield, Sales and Marketing Director for Vauxhall Motors commented on the campaign, ‘Yes, it’s an Astra’ conveys the surprise when people realise how Vauxhall is raising the bar. Already heavily-lauded by the motoring press, the all-new Brit built Astra takes huge steps forward in terms of quality, design and connectivity. At 200kg lighter than its predecessor, with new powertrains and cutting-edge technology, the new Astra is set to shake up the C-segment.”

Vauxhall stated two key elements it wanted present in the ad campaign: surprise and affirmation.

“It was also important to assert a sense of pride that we should have for the Astra. It’s a car made in Britain, therefore the ad needed to have an authentically British feel, from the landscape to the music, to develop a sense of camaraderie for the Astra and how it’s evolved throughout the years,” said Paul Dean, Managing Partner, McCann UK.

The campaign will hit televisions on soon, with a major digital and movie awards season movement following the initial ad.

  1. Astra is a fantastic car. It looks premium, and will really help the brand grown. I’m curious about whether a saloon is headed to Europe. The new Verano is lackluster.

      The UK is GM Europe’s biggest market. The UK buys more Astras than any other European country. Ellesmere Port in the UK is the global lead Astra production facility. Whilst Astra K has been on sale across Europe since mid October, it doesn’t officially launch publicly in the UK until the 26th December! Yes you can see it in dealerships but until the 26th, you can’t drive it out the showroom unless you’re on an accompanied test drive. I live in a fair size town (400k people) with two large Vauxhall dealerships, yet to date I’ve only seen one Astra K on the road, probably also on a test-drive given that the guy in the passenger seat was suited and the driver not.

      I sure hope that from tomorrow the picture changes and the roads start filling with Astra K’s. From a GM perspective, launching in your biggest European market last is utter madness and a wasted opportunity. Which fool thought this would be a good idea and who seconded it? They need to be shown the door!

      I’m sure there will be an Astra K saloon, though I doubt it will be available in the UK. Again, probably another missed opportunity given the rising UK popularity of small premium 4-door saloon variants, eg. Audi A3, Mercedes A Klasse. You’re right, the new Chinese Verano looks dumpy, especially around the front clip. I sense the European Astra saloon will retain the sleek K looks.

  2. I like the French very. and this is how they act. I like the French very much. Frenchmen act very quickly and will bring out the entire range of models very quickly. up with the top models. Opel VW struggles. But Opel is still much to do to recover. prantsalsed is perhaps even better than the VW, and has also been in before. Quality-Technology- Design

  6. and one old renault. The automotive industry is very tough. it is not easy to survive. the level is so high out that it is very difficult to compete
