Volkswagen has been making more than a few changes following its unfolding scandal surrounding its diesel emissions in certain vehicles, but the latest move has the company poaching a former General Motors executive.
Thomas Sedran, formally Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe Managing Director, has been brought on by Volkswagen AG as head of group strategy for the german automaker, according to Market Watch. The move is seen as a strategic move on Volkswagen’s part, as it begins to put the pieces back together following the news of its emissions cheating “defeat device.”
Sedran is credited with laying the groundwork for Opel’s strategy to return to profitability, and also chaired the Opel brand in the interim.
The news comes after it was announced Sedran would be taking a position at Accenture at the beginning of September. It seems Volkswagen has made a greater offer.
Sedran will take his position beginning November 1, and report Volkswagen CEO, Matthias Mueller.
