2015 Opel Adam S Wins Autonis Design Award

The quirky 2015 Opel Adam S found a lot of love form Auto Motor und Sport, with a majority of 17,000 participants choosing the vehicle as “Best Design Newcomer 2015.”

The people’s choice award is calculated through reader response, with voters able to choose two positive, and two negative assessments of a vehicle. If, for example, 20 per cent vote for model A as the winner and five per cent see it as a flop, model A receives overall score of 15. This result then determines the final position of model A. The Adam S received an overall score of 50.1; the closest competitor only achieved a score of 29.8.

Also winners for the Opel brand were the Opel Karl, which placed fourth in the mini car category, and the 2016 Opel Astra placed third behind the BMW 1-Series and Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake.

Mark Adams, Vice President Design Europe, accepted the award, and was outspoken on taking home the coveted design prize.

“17,000 readers cannot be wrong! The convincing win of the Adam S is a fantastic confirmation of our design philosophy: Sculptural Artistry meets German Precision. In addition, the Adam shines with sheer endless individualization possibilities, giving every customer the opportunity to create an Adam according to his/her personal taste. And seeing our new Astra immediately break into the phalanx of German premium brands is also a huge success. As already said: the new Astra upsets the luxury class.”

  1. Opel really does have the finest design language of any GM brand.
Without doubt, it is also the sexiest German brand aside from Benz.
Good looks, high quality, and more-for-less pricing should help Opel (and Buick) grow profits and market share.
