It seems that the chrome insert on the C7 Corvette Stingray fascia is an item of controversy to many Corvette fans (at least the talking has hushed about the tail-lights). This has led to many owners swapping out the standard Stingray grille for a sleeker, sexier, Z06 grille which is all black.
The image you see was created by a Redditer who was strongly opposed to the played out chrome accenting. Here’s what they had to say about it;
“My quick photoshop fix of the C7 Corvette. I think the C7 is GORGEOUS.. except for the front air dams. I feel like it doesn’t fit the whole aggressiveness of the car.”
The front grille isn’t an “air dam,” but anyway, yeah.
One of the comments mentioned the popular alternative of using plasti dip to cover the ugly chrome. Some may consider the use of this rubber compound as an act of marring the prestigious Vette,  though we see nothing wrong with it. On the other hand, some may say, “the heck with the looks, it’s all about that LT1 under the hood.” Touché.
Maybe the General will give orders to the Bowling Green assembly plant to ditch the chrome and go with the popular black look? Do you think they should? Let us know in the comment section below.

I have seen the grill with the chrome blacked out. It does look better, but the Z06 grill still looks far better.
I’m not a fan of the chrome and this is a fix, but not a great one.
I like the added slots on both sides of the grill. Makes the nose look more aggressive. And could be good spot for fog lights. Still cant understand why GM would not give the C7 appropriate lower fog lighting (DRL LED’s shouldn’t be a valid replacement). The C7.R cars do!!
Having owned 7 Corvettes in my lifetime, I feel as unqualified as the rest of the world to provide my own 2 cents worth, recognizing that in most everyone’s opinion, all cars, can be “improved” in the design arena. The C-7 is the very best Corvette I have ever owned (owned a 2014 and now a 2015). But the fascia design could be improved considerably by simply blacking out the chrome in the front grill.
I think the C7 has several design flaws, but the grill isn’t one of them. I have a 2011 Grand Sport and although I know the C7 is a better car than the C6 in almost every way, I haven’t even considered trading mine in mainly because I prefer the looks of the C6 to the C7. The C6 Grand Sport is much more aggressive looking than the C7 Stingray and in my opinion its even more aggressive looking that the C7 Z06. Its all a matter of taste and opinion.
the carbon flash pkg. will delete the chrome strip on the grill.
That proposed front end is near perfect.
Well done. It incorporates the current Chevrolet grille ‘family’. Matching in style to the Sonic ,Cruze , Malibu, all the way up.
I have not liked the Camaro lights in the rear of the car from the start, but the front was never a problem ……..Except the C7R has a great look to it with the round driving lights. The chrome strip in the grill has a C1 homage look to it but I never thought this was supposed to be a retro car like the Camaro and Mustang.
I like the concept and the side vents may be great for brake cooling ducts. Maybe perhaps an LED round C6 tail light concept for the rear to match? Both pieces may sell well together as a package if ever produced. JMHO. I know it’s what I would want as a C7 owner.
