Though the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was revealed just under two weeks ago, we’re still digesting Chevy’s new sports/pony car. Not only is it still sinking in that pony car is here (it’s finally friggin’ here!), but we’re also very impressed by it.
In fact, we don’t know what we’re impressed by more — the three new available engines (2.0-liter I4 LTG; the all-new naturally-aspirated 3.6-liter V6 LGX; and the big daddy 6.2-liter V8 LT1 Small Block), the significant 200+ pound decrease in weight, or the attractive yet aggressive sheetmetal. Whichever improvement tickles your fancy the most, it’s good to know that there are a ton of new Camaro facts and figures around which to wrap your head.
Several GM Authority staff members were on hand during the reveal event on May 16th at Belle Isle in Detroit to take it all in. Meanwhile, others (*cough*) had to stay back to help helm the ol’ SS GM Authority. But then we remembered that YouTube is more than just a place to put stuff like this and, after digging around for a bit, ended up unearthing the full reveal video featuring none other than Mark Reuss, GM Executive Vice President Global Product Development. Take note, this isn’t the summary of the reveal; instead, it’s the whole thing.
“I can say with complete confidence that it is one of the world’s best performance cars. Period.” says Reuss seconds after the now-Alpha-based Camaro takes the stage. “This car is far superior to any car in the sports car arena.”
There are plenty of juicy details packed into the 12-minute video, so it’s definitely worth a peek if you consider yourself a Camaro fan. And if you don’t feel like watching the whole thing, then at least fast forward to the 6:40 mark to listen to the crowd after the LT1’s specs are revealed. It will warm your heart.
