It’s no secret Chevrolet tested its 2015 Corvette Z06 at the Nurburgring before putting the performance powerhouse on sale. We saw videos and photos of the Z06 lapping the track, and on one occasion crashing into it, on several different occasions. What is a secret, however, is how long it took the Z06 to get itself around the 12.9-mile road course.
One website, Horsepower Kings, claims to know how quickly the Z06 navigated the Nordschleife. We’ve never heard of this site, and they don’t name their sources for this claim, so take it with a grain of salt, but they say the Z06 lapped the ‘Ring in a scarcely believable 6:59.13.
This is the same website who said Ford would kill off all V8 engines by 2018, a laughable claim Ford officials denied, forcing the publication to pull the article. They don’t say where their info comes from in regards to the Z06 time, either, only noting that an HD on-board video proving their claim will be released “soon.”
We’re not really sure whether to believe this one or not. If this info came from a more trusted source, we’d have no problem believing a Z07-equipped Z06 with GM’s 8L90E eight-speed transmission lapped the ‘Ring in such an impressive time. It seems entirely possible, but Chevy will have to release a video (that’s if they have one) for us to back up this claim. We know for a fact that Chevrolet won’t be released one soon, however.
You may recall a certain story of the 2015 Corvette Z06 crashing on the ‘Ring. Well, that was during a closed-circuit run that would have been made official had the car not flung into a barrier. And while the Corvette team did have a spare Z06 at the ready, the inclement weather that the region so often sees during the winter months kept the team from getting a retry during their time at the Nürburgring. But, the Porsche 918-beating lap time around VIR is still a good figure to index, if you ask us.

Are these the same guys that posted the Mustange GT350R did The Ring 5 seconds faster than the Z/28? Looks like it:

I see what you did there, but you forgot the last step. You can’t move the decimal in .1263 and assume it was in seconds.
The time you wanted is 7:07.58.
